West Lake Gourmet — Restaurant in Southampton

This restaurant has the best Chinese in the area. My wife and I stopped for lunch and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. We ordered 2 lunch specials, me, I’m boring, General Tso chicken. My wife ordered Triple Delight, chicken pork and shrimp. We both chose pork fried rice. Both come with a choice from 3 soups, and mine came with Crab Rangoon. The egg drop soup was rich and flavorful. The Crab Rangoon was creamy, absolutely filled to bulging, and fried just before serving. Likely the best I’ve ever had. Both our lunch plates were served quickly and were delicious. The plates were generously filled, in fact, my wife got a takeout box. When we got the bill, it was $20 for two including a good tip! Last night we ordered Sesame Chicken, Broccoli with Garlic Sauce, Chicken Fried Rice and some soups. I’m eating leftovers for lunch today and had to leave this review. Their food is always good, but especially the most recent order we made! The sesame chicken was so light and crispy, with a really nice flavor. Not just your avg sesame chicken I mean it! Although we had takeout the restaurant has been updated and looks amazing. They were busy too and I know in some places that may mean the quality might suffer but not in our case! The staff is friendly, the space is great, but the food really brings a lot of depth in flavor, and tastes great! This is our go-to Chinese restaurant for sure...

This to me represents the Pinnacle of Americana Chinese food, if there's such a thing. Neon lights in the windows, plush booths, red carpet, paper placemats, complimentary fried wontons at the start and sliced fruit with fortune cookies (which I recently learned are actually Japanese?) at the end. Friendly service who attracts and knows their guests by name. Really good Americanized, Chinese food accompanied by friendly service. We only get to come seasonally when we visit family, but the staff seems to remember us and always treat us like VIPs.
