We went to MidPines for brunch a few weeks ago and the food/drink was well worth the price, and the service was friendly. However our visit today was less cordial. We understand that we did not make reservations for this particular visit, and that the establishment was busy and already mostly booked. However at no point did anyone communicate to us that, although we arrived at 1100 precisely when they opened, they would not be able to seat us until roughly 1240. It was not until 1130 when we inquired about the wait time after noticing the many empty tables that we were informed that we would not be seated until 30 or 40 minutes AFTER 1200. “Edward” tried to help us after noticing us standing in the lobby for 20 minutes, after which he was informed “they’re walk-ins”.
The tone in which this delivered must have meant that we somehow were unworthy of being informed on how long the wait was.
A simple and very avoidable issue of communication could have prevented us from wasting 40 minutes of our time.
Definitely make a reservation if you want to eat here, if you don’t your treatment may be...
Read moreWe were assigned the Dogwood house that is part of the resort. The Dogwood house is terrible. The lighting in the house is terrible and hard to play cards, the tv in the main room might be smaller than my computer monitor and 15 years old. No streaming services. No wifi at all. There are 5 separate rooms each having separate access so there can be more than one group staying at this house. The house is so outdated. Carpet is so worn. In the kitchen there are no utensils. There is no common area bathroom. The back deck looks like it could collapse at any moment. My bed was dirty. I will never stay at the Dogwood again. It’s hard to believe that this Dogwood house is even made available for rent. This would be a place that shouldn’t cost more than $40 a night and they are charging $150 a night per person. So $300 a room a...
Read moreBEWARE. While I realize the hotel is historical, we are in the middle of a pandemic, therefore cleanliness should be a priority. Our room was gross. Our first room’s carpet was wet from a leak which soaked our socks walking on it, and the room reeked of mildew. Changes rooms. Our 2nd room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Toilet had brown streaks in it. There was a used toothpick on the bathroom floor. Found a half drunken water bottle, bottle caps and dirty socks under the dust ruffle of the beds. There were stains and mold in the carpet. And there was a big hole in the window panel. I could stick my hand outside and wave down to people below. I had to stuff a towel in it to close it off to attempt to keep hot air, bugs and noise out. Probably why I had a beetle in my bed. The staff was hospitable, but our rooms were...
