La Banvanera Restaurant & Cantina — Restaurant in Sparta

It's not often as truck driver's that we come across restaurant's like this Cantina here, so we were excited to have a nice sit down meal of authentic Mexican flavor's. I ordered the steak taco plate and my partner ordered the sizzling steak fajitas. And WOW! the steak on both dishes were flavorful and so tender. The corn tortillas were fresh, soft and warm. Everything came out piping hot. The guacamole, the pico de gallo, the salsa and chips was great!!. Service was on point....they checked up on us throughout our meal, refilled our drink's, I had a couple of Coors light beers and those mountains on the sticker were super blue which means nice and cold! As long haulers we eat a lot of different food across the nation and for you Wisconsin folk's, this is where it's at! We will be saving this into our favorite folder to stop again and eat. Truckers, get inside this cantina and get yourself some really good food. You will not be disappointed. It was great all around!...

Food was ok. They did forget the shrimp in my combo fajitas. And only 3 corn tortillas. It takes 2 tortillas for one corn taco. Salsa was liquid, not chunky. And more bell pepper and onion than meat. Not the Mexican food I'm use to being from TX. Dos XX chilada was decent (without Mexican candy on raw pasta noodle) nice selection of alcohol. Tequila, especially. I'm an 1800 silver when I do drink it. Corazon silver was very smooth. Was there for a couple hrs. Throat did run dry a few times, but all of staff was friendly. Nice outdoor patio area. Music could've been louder outside. Was like a faint whisper, but I didn't ask to turn it up, either. Very family friendly place. Overall, 6.5/10 for me Personally.. 7/10 for Mexican joint in Wisconsin. Would definitely try again. Maybe...

We ate here recently. Surprisingly good food for a place that looks like a hole in the wall. It has a very large menu, with a mix of Mexican-American food and American (burgers, sandwiches, and fries). I had a chicken enchilada lunch. It had a light cream sauce, full of meat. The refried beans were nice and creamy, but had crusted over a bit like they spent too much time under the warming lamps. My wife had a crispy chicken wrap with fries. It was really nice, but it seemed odd that she had to ask for ketchup. I had expected the waiter to automatically bring ketchup with the fries.
