We have been ordering from Yamato for quite some time. We order from and eat at Yamatos atleast 2x a month and we typically spend 80$ if not more. Tonight we ordered what was supposed to be a chicken w garlic sauce combo with fried rice with chicken fingers , a veg lo mein combo with fried rice and a chicken teriyaki stick, a general tsos chicken combo w fried rice and crab Rangoon, a kung pao chicken (which was not marked to have peanuts but had them and my husband is allergic) and a veg tempura app. We received a completely incorrect order which included an order of lo mein we did not order. We called and tried to explain but they wanted us to come in to rectify it. My husband went in and explained to them we needed some money back. We returned all the food except for the correct item that my kids ate. We wanted to just have our food corrected and get refunded the 11$ for the lo mein we did not order. They gave us once again more incorrect food and only refunded us 2$. I called and explained that I did not even want the food anymore it was 8:40 at this point and we once again returned to the restaurant for a 3rd time. As we walked in we were told that we were not welcome to come in again and that we would not be served there anymore before we got all the way in the door. We explained that that was fine because we did not want to return as the woman at the front had already been extremely rude to us. She then proceeded to argue with me some more despite the fact that I had returned all the food and explained that I just wanted to get my money back at this point. They did not have any desire to fix the mistake that was made and I hold no ill will towards the young man who took our order because I can completely appreciate that sometimes mistakes are made when entering food into the system however when we tried to just get the food fixed it was a huge deal and we were placed in the wrong. We ended up receiving 36$ back which did not include the lo mein that we did not order. However I just wanted to leave and go up the road to get a sandwich so we could eat dinner now at 9:15. In my opinion spend your money elsewhere because if any human error occurs within the restaurant it will be...
Read moreWe've been going here for a while now. It's never overcrowded and the food is good at a reasonable price. We enjoy it because they offer both sushi and Chinese food, amongst other fare so there's always something to pick from with our diverse group.
Edit: this will be my last time going to Yamato. We've had several troubles in the past with service here but the food typically makes up for it. This time it was downright awful. No exaggeration, the waiter (who was lousy and rude) put his hand up in my wife's face and stopped her from talking mid-sentance while she was trying to explain what it was that we wanted from the menu. I have to tell you that my wife actually wrote down our order on a piece of paper to give one of the wait staff because no one was helping us out. We had to ask (beg) for water, plates, just about everything. Not one of the employees came to our table to clear a dish- not one dish, fork, glass, nothing. We had to pile our dirty dishes on our own on the table next to us that was still full of dirty dishes from the last customer that sat there. I can continue on about how bad this experience was but I think you get the point. My wife and I are not uppity people, don't mind paying for a meal, and I tip well. My wife cooks at home all but maybe 3 times a month, so when we go out we don't need this type of lousy experience.
Don't waste your time,...
Read moreWe've been going to Yamato and doing take out since it opened but every time gets worse. The owner wasn't there and you could tell. There were five tables, the waiter told us he was "busy" as he continued to run away from our table mid way through serving - left without the full order, did not refill drinks, basically dropped plates on our table and did not clear one empty dish. We resorted to moving empty dishes to a table that was full of the prior guest's plates, dishes piled there for 25 minutes before a kitchen staff cleared them. Also, male waiter was ridiculously rude. I ended up writing down my table's order (four adults, four kids) to get it to him finally. He came back and asked, "shrimp tempura?" as I tried to explain the sushi roll, not the appetizer, he held his hand in my face and shhhh'd me. It took all I had to not walk out - if the kids weren't already enjoying their meal I would have. My husband had to keep getting up and going to the waiter station to get what we needed. Food was decent but nothing tastes that great when you're service is absolutely terrible. Not enough forks, no sharing plates, no napkins, no water refills, no soy sauce plates....I could go on. Bill was over $160 for a father's day dinner that was just truly disappointing. That waiter ruined...
