The Dashboard Diner — Restaurant in Spencer

Wow. Just wow wow wow. I have no words. Probably because I’m still eating my meal as I write this— I just had to immediately leave a review because this is, hands down, the best burger I have ever had. I have a policy with anticipating how good food will be based on how much of a hole-in-the-wall the establishment is (and I don’t mean for that to be insulting— I mean for it to be a major compliment, as I don’t like flashy places). Dashboard Diner is located right off the main road, and is a cozy, homey shack with absolute magic happening inside. I got the All American burger done medium rare and with all the fixins. Upon my first bite, In-N-Out was instantly demoted as my favorite burger joint. I’ve had a lot of cheeseburgers and fries in my lifetime (it’s one of my favorite meals), and I have never had anything that comes close to how good this is. It just feels like a warm hug. Went to the dashboard diner today to pick up lunch for the family. We stop here once a week for hot dogs as they are close to home and not many good quick options in our town. I like how I can customize each hot dog to the persons taste and they come with handcut fries and a drink. They were delicious like always and hit the spot! Also the staff is wonderful! Super friendly and kind and this time I left my debit card and they found me on fb and let me know I left something so I could go and retrieve it. In this day and age that is rare and after I ate I would have cancelled it and ordered a new one because never in the past has someone kept my card and contacted me, usually gets in the wrong hands and gets spent. She said she saw it when I left and immediately put it aside and found me on fb. Next time I will try the chicken sandwich or burger as they are probably equally as delicious as my go-to hot dogs. I have heard a lot of great things about this establishment, so I had to try it. The service and customer interaction were great. We ordered the Spencer Burger meal, the German Hot Dogs, and the Steak and Cheese meal. The winner for me was the German dogs, the Kraut and Jalapeños and Mustard did so well together with the bun. I ordered a burger medium...it came out well done. The burger meat was mediocre. Lettuce and tomato and condiments were too much, made bun too soggy. the ratio of the toppings was just too much for the burger. Same with the steak and cheese. the cheese and regular cheese were too much for the sandwich to handle. steak itself was actually seasoned well.
