Short version: restaurant was dirty, our waitress was high, the food tasted bad while also causing stomach problems and we paid as much as we would at a better sushi restaurant downtown.
Long version: We saw the reviews and thought it would be worth a shot to overlook the restaurant location and appearance. We are guessing it used to be a mexican restaurant as they played music in spanish and the walls were brightly colored. Honestly doesn't look terrible, but is definitely not what you'd expect for Japanese cuisine.
Appearances aside, the first issue we ran into was the place was filthy. The section housing the pool table had many tables covered in dirty dishes. These dishes were not touched the entire 1.5 hours we were there. We killed multiple flies before even ordering our food.
The next issue was the menu was huge making decisions difficult as the food ranged from Thai, Indian, Chinese and Japanese dishes. This was concerning making it doubtful that the chef could specialize in so many different dishes. We opted due to the lack of cleanliness and large menu to NOT order any uncooked food options so no true sushi.
This brings us to the food, which was mediocre tasting at best and caused us severe gastrointestinal issues the next day. Use your imaginations or don't for your own sakes. This was even with ordering only COOKED dishes without the added danger of raw fish. One of the dishes we ordered was so bad, that after tasting it we lost our appetites and quit eating.
Top it all off, our waitress was high as a kite. She was entertaining due to her extreme bluntness with some of her opinions on menu items. She used the word "disgusting" several times concerning multiple dishes. This made one of us want to leave, but we wanted to give the place an honest try so we stayed.
All of this and the fare was as expensive as more quality sushi restaurants in the area. We have been to higher end restaurants in the Spokane-CDA area that have cost less for a comparable amount of higher quality food.
This is the longest review we've ever done, but the experience was so bad that we felt it justified. 0/5 stars, 1 removed for each paragraph...
Read moreI AM SADLY UPDATING THIS REVIEW. RECENTLY I BOUGHT SOME FRIED RICE AND YELLOW CURRY AND THE CONTAINERS WERE HALF THE SIZE. I CALLED TO ASK IF THERE WAS A MISTAKE OR IF THEY ARE CHANGING THEIR QUANTITIES VERY NICELY AND THE GIRL HANDED THE PHONE TO SOMEONE WHO CLAIMED TO BE THE BAR SUPERVISOR, SHE YELLED AT ME, NO EXAGGERATION ABOUT HOW SHE "KNOWS WHO I AM, CLAIMING THAT I SIT AT THE CORNER OF THE BAR ALL THE TIME AND SHE HAS ALWAYS GIVEN THAT SIZE OF CONTAINER, STATING THAT I AM JUST TRYING TO START PROBLEMS AND THAT IVE NEVER EVER RECIEVED A LARGER CONTAINER THEN THAT WHEN BUYING CURRY" WHICH I HAVE NEVER UTILIZED THEIR BAR, AND ALWAYS DONE TAKE OUT -UNLESS IM THERE WITH FAMILY. SHE DEFINITELY GOT ME MIXED UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE, I KNOW IVE GOTTEN A BIGGER SIZE I LITTERALLY ORDERED LAST WEEK AND STILL HAVE THE CONTAINER! AND SHE COMPLETELY INSULTED ME, YELLED AT ME AND THREATENED TO GET HER COWORKERS IN TROUBLE IF THEYVE SERVED ME A BIGGER SIZE TO GO CONTAINER OF CURRY. SUPER ODD, SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL, AND THEY JUST LOST A WEEKLY, GOOD PAYING AND NICE TIPPING CUSTOMER. IVE NEVER BEEN SPOKEN TO LIKE THAT BEFORE NOR HAVE A BEEN SERVED A SMALL CONTAINER OF CURRY WHEN ORDERING TO GO AND IVE GOTTEN ALOT OF CURRY FROM THIS PLACE... . DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDING AND TELLING MY FRIENDS TO BE WEARY IF THEY DECIDE TO. 8/21/2024 7:45PM
really enjoy their Basil Fried Rice the most, ALL of their Currys, I've gotten their Tom Kha many times as I am a repeat customer. I am Celiac, and they make their Fried Rice Gluten Free when I ask them, which is very nice. You must ask for it to be made with Gluten Free Soy Sauce. I also get a Gluten Free soy sauce on the side when I order. I usually order to go/pick up. They are fast and very nice workers. It's usually the same/consistent workers. I have also gotten a few of their Sushi Rolls made Gluten Free which they use Cucumber to wrap instead of Seaweed paper. I recommend this place to...
Read moreWent for a quick lunch. Waitress had an attitude the entire time. She kept avoiding our table. She wanted to roll the napkins instead of taking our order. We waited over 30 minutes for someone to take our food and drink order. Our original waitress never came back to the table, but she did serve people that came in after us. The sushi rolls were falling apart when they arrived at the table, and our Ramen soups tasted off. It is unfortunate because we have gone before and have had great experiences.
Update on my review: Upon arrival, my party was greeted and seated promptly by one of the two staff members working the floor. That’s where things began to feel off. This same staff member was actively serving drinks, soup, and taking orders at several surrounding tables. Naturally, we assumed she would be taking care of us as well. However, after some time passed without acknowledgment or service, it became unclear whether she intended to assist our table at all. It was only after a delay that another staff member approached us and provided the service we had expected from the beginning—she did a fine job and was courteous throughout. To be clear, my concern isn’t simply about waiting; it’s about clarity and consistency in service. If the first staff member is not a server, the staging area—complete with napkins and silverware—being placed in plain view of waiting customers adds to confusion. If she is a server, choosing to assist other tables while ignoring ours sends an unfortunate message, intentional or not. A final note: dine-in customers deserve just as much attention as takeout orders. If the restaurant is prioritizing takeout, I urge management to reconsider the balance. Guests who’ve made the effort to sit down and enjoy a meal on-site should never feel like an...
