I wish the food tasted as good as it looked. Unfortunately the only thing that tasted decent were the beignets, however be mindful that while they were good, they were not authentic tasting. The dish I got I believe it was called capiccio- it was seafood in a tomato based broth. The seafood didn't taste all that fresh, the broth tasted a little off. The best part about the dish was the parmesan bread that came with it. My daughter and I both got this dish and had much the same feedback about it. It tasted like the broth was poured over seafood that was heated up in the same liquid it may have been frozen in and not rinsed off or removed from the seafood before the broth was poured. My friend got the seafood linguine (can't remember the specific name on the menu), but the sauce clearly had butter in it that had been pretty badly burned. All you could really taste was the burnt butter. And her daughter got a club wrap... She asked for no tomatoes, but they put tomatoes. She did say that had they not put tomatoes it would have been good. She tried picking them out and the wrap ended up falling apart, so she didn't really get to enjoy it. I will say though, that we all enjoyed the appetizers- fried calamari and crispy brussel sprouts. This was my birthday dinner, so it ended up being a little extra disappointing. I remember when Downriver opened years ago and how good it was then. Wonder what happened?

We were super excited to try downriver for the first time. We called an hour ahead to get on the list (for 2 people) and made our way over. When we got there they told us it would be a few minutes while they cleaned a table. They came and got us and took us to this table that was made for 10 people, a family or 6 or 7 was on one end and they set 2 plates on the other end away from them. It felt very weird like we weren't invited to this bigger groups dinner and were asked to sit away from from them all. Meanwhile there was about 5 open tables (and only 3 or 4 groups on the list after us), including a few 2 tops. About 10 minutes later a server came over and we asked if it was normal to be seated like this and she said typically no they don't do it but they didn't andhave anything else open. We asked if we saidcould wait a few more minutes for something to open up and she said she'd see if there was another table available. A few minutes later another gal came over and told us to grab our menus silverware and waters and follow her to a new table. The whole first 30 minutes at the restraunt was very weird and we were slightly disappointed just because we had heard such great things about it. The rest of the night was okay, the food was good (especially the gargonzola fries) but we really were caught off guard by the whole start of the night.might be willing to try it again but it'll be a while.

Had great service, although it took awhile for the food to be served. Hubby enjoyed his Cioppino; it looked amazing. His meal was a solid 5-stars. I have a shellfish allergy, so I decided on the French Dip, with Beet salad. I'll say it was a 3-star meal. Had my heart set on a quality french bread, stacked with beef, provolone and grilled onion, with horseradish, and a savory au jus for dipping. That didn't happen. It was basically an expensive grilled cheese sandwich. The bread had too much butter and I did not taste the horseradish at all. The grilled imposter was too hard to sop up much of the au jus, which was really disappointing. But the grilled flavor was just not at all what I was expecting or appreciating. Brough home half of it to salvage the meat and au jus on a nice roll this afternoon. The Beet salad was nice, but I will get the dressing on the side next time. I'm a bit picky about what type of calories I consume. This was not my best splurge. Next time I would "grill" the server about what I'm thinking of ordering. But a FRENCH Dip should be a safe bet that it's on a FRENCH roll. Maybe rename it on the menu as a Grilled beef and cheese sandwich w/au jus.

Would like to add, this is my 4th visit here. All other visits have been equally bad. Will not be giving downriver another shot

Would give zero stars if I could. Came in tonight, 4/26/22. Waited 45 minutes to be served our drinks. We ordered 2 amaretto sours, which were the worst amaretto sours I've ever had. The waitress told us the wait was because the bartender had to "squeeze everything from fresh" but the only thing that should need to be squeezed is a lemon so I'm not sure why that took 46 minutes. There were only 3 other tables with customers at them when we got there, but they were all finishing their meals so again I don't know what took so long. I ordered the half Caesar salad with chicken, husband ordered the NY strip medium well. After another 20 minutes the food came out. The chicken wasn't ready though so had to wait for that. Also had to ask for silverware because no one brought us any with our food. Once the 6$ side of chicken did come out, it was cold and was about 1/4 of a breast. The waitress said she'd remove it from our bill because we had to wait for it, but she needed to be reminded of that too as the bill we got did have the 6$ "large chicken" listed which again was about 5 small slices of chicken. Husband's steak was raw in the middle but he didn't want to send it back. I ordered a second amaretto sour with egg white, as all their other sours come with egg white I had assumed I wouldn't need to specify but I did. When that finally came out about 15 minutes later it was as if they'd used an eye dropper to drop 4-5 drops of egg white into it rather than an entire egg white. Tasted even worse than the first ones. To sum up, service even when they're slow is awful, food was truly bad, price was outrageous for how bad it was and how long it took. And to top things all off, both the men's and women's bathrooms were filthy. The women's room was out of toilet paper in both stalls. Will not be returning and I'd advise everyone else to...

Im finding it hard to support Downriver Grill. I’m a local, living only a few blocks over, and I love DRG- it’s the place I want to bring family or friends when they come visit. But recently, the service and speed are becoming a major issue.

Tonight, we made a reservation for 4 at 7:30. We arrived at 7:30 and the hostess was rude to my step mom saying “your table isn’t empty, we will try our best but wait.” We watched numerous tables for 4 sit empty, we continued to ask politely when the table would be ready because she seated other 3 or 4 person parties ahead of us that arrived & had reservations after us. The hostess was extremely rude each time. Never apologized for the wait.

We got a Table 35 minutes after our reservation (remember, tables sitting empty that whole time!) and our server was very friendly. I gently, and politely told her privately that it was a special occasion and we’d waited a long time for our reservation and the hostess was not very kind. The server didn’t apologize or offer any thing to us (maybe a complimentary appetizer or drink?).

The server was very sweet, but it took over an hour to get dinner. My Dads order was the entirely wrong burger, but we didn’t want to say anything since it was already 9:15pm. My step mom’s halibut and my steelhead didn’t come with any of the micro greens and garnishes. I had to ask for them.

I had a $10 off coupon for the last time I visited and our server forgot something. I went to pay our bill, (no discounts, nothing comped for the experience) and used the coupon and my credit card. server took off $10 the bill and let me keep the coupon for the next time for being kind, so no complaints about her!

But overall, the hostess is always a little rude (we eat there frequently) and the staff seems super overworked causing unreasonably long waits. Idk why orders came out incorrectly from the kitchen, but somethings off at DRG, and I’m not sure it will be my “go to” place anymore for...

To explain this rating a little let me start by saying I loved this place at one time. We know how busy this place gets so here we go. We 2 people where sat at 4 person table, then later sat strangers at the same table. Maybe it's just me but I find that very awkward. So I asked if we could be moved. I should have known that the 2 spots open at the bar meant we are all now elbow to elbow even closer to more strangers. I would have rather been told we are full than to sit on someone's lap. We asked for med rare burgers we got done with no hint of pink. At this point MCDONALD'S would have been better. To end my meal I had a foreign object in my food that was never identified. Now here is the kicker. They took off half of my burger and did not charge us for the gorgonzola fries. I didn't eat half of my burger but I wasn't about to ask to measure my overly cooked foreign object food. Needless to say are waiter seemed apologetic. Not once did any head chef/owner come out and say omg this is not how we run this place. So I tipped the who served us paid for overlydone burgers and said good bye to our little after work spot. "If the person who served us was the manager she never addressed her self as that so sorry if I was uninformed. The table we sat at had 4 chairs and I was never aware at any time that was how we would be seated. I would have much rather waited or gone else where. I have been to this restaurant a number of times not once sat at the same table with strangers. As for the bill I only explained exactly how the server explained it to us. Her words not mine. Half of the burger no charge for the fries. If she rang it up different after that was something else I don't have the price menu on hand to compare. My account say I was charged 33$ plus change. If burgers are 10$, and we paid for 1 .5 burgers at 15$ 2 glasses of 6$ wine and free fries plus tip that seems more accurate than half off fries and...
