While visiting family in Spring City we had the opportunity to eat at Das Cafe. The building looks really small but it has a larger room almost like a banquet hall off the main dining area/cafe. It was packed but we got our food quickly once we decided what to order. Our group ordered the loaded Belgian waffle with fresh berries, the salami and havarti sandwich, the soup of the day which was chili, and the bratwurst platter with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. We also ordered a drink called the Mormon Mocha (I don't love the name of this drink as it is a derogatory term for the pioneers who settled Utah but it was a clever sell all things considered) and some carrot cake since it was Easter weekend. We all samples and passed plates around the table so we could taste a little of everything. The favorites of the meal were the mashed potatoes with a dill mustard/horseradish gravy (I know it might not sound good but it really was!), the sauerkraut with Caraway seeds (just like they serve it in Czechia where my husband lived), the loaded Belgian waffle, and the chili.
If you go, I highly recommend trying the mashed potatoes and gravy and...
Read moreI want to be able to come to your restaurant. I came there on a Saturday morning once and it was delightful. I've always wanted to take my daughter. She lives in Mount pleasant part-time with her father. The problem is is that I only get her either Sundays or Mondays for pickup. Both Days are closed. I'm from Utah county, I'm really not going to come all the way out there to visit your restaurant unfortunately. I really wish that you guys would consider opening up on Monday. I think you'd be surprised that people would actually appreciate that a lot, and I could actually bring my daughter in for breakfast on occasion. Sunday would even be amazingly ideal because I normally pick up my daughter on Sundays but during the summer sometimes I pick her up on Mondays, but I also understand that's not very feasible in a small town like spring City.
Anyway, I hope you'll reconsider opening up on either of those days so that I can have my daughter experience your...
Read moreI'd been meaning to get here for ages. Finally, I came down from Orem just to have lunch. It was worth the trip. As far as COVID goes, there is good social distancing of the tables. Despite the Statewide mask mandate, no servers or cook had masks. I saw the only three people that came in with masks wore them well under the nose. You can decide things that matter to you. There is a lot of charm here. There is also a lot of love and excellent food. You are not going to feel you went to Germany, but I can't think of a better Reuben and German potato salad in the State. The one at Feldman's is every bit as good, just different. It didn't look as huge as it actually is. It will be two meals, in the end. Their carrot cake is every bit as good as the high expectations I had for it. It was just right for two people. It was a good thing we said we were going to want it, because we ended up with the last piece that was being...
