It takes a special kind of person to do this. Will they lose customers? Guess that will be His cross to bare!
Sharing information, hoping that increased awareness in our community can prevent this from occurring again.
Our family frequents Ray’s Family Restaurant in SG and always has great service, and excellent food. When my sister’s family visits from Connecticut we traditionally send her off after breakfast from Ray’s. This morning my niece, who is blind, was accompanied by her guide dog. As soon as we were seated the waitress informed us that dogs were not “allowed”. We politely informed her that this wasn’t a pet, but a service animal.
The owner came out and insisted we leave. Again- we explained that my niece is blind, her service animal is protected under the American Disability Act and is akin to a piece of medical equipment and NECESSARY for her. We told him he is REQUIRED by law to allow service animals. We even gently explained that her guide dog is NOT an emotional support animal without training.
He told us that he’s lost customers that “don’t like dogs. They got up and left.” And my niece’s blindness is “her cross to bare”.
When businesses refuse service animals they may face fines up to $150,000 and serve up to 3 months in prison. Thankfully my niece is a gracious person and was more embarrassed than vindictive. She’s choosing to educate versus report. If you own a business please ensure you familiarize yourself...
Read moreI give this restaurant a -5 stars but the review thing requires me to put 1... Normally I'm not someone to complain but I've absolutely had it! The first time I ordered my order some how got canceled last minute, the second time I ordered (the Saturday before super bowl Sunday pre-ordered wings) the order never came and the restaurant was closed, and tonight 3rd times the charm... I ordered and half my order didn't come...I called in and was told the lady who picked up the order said it was okay that they only wanted half the order that was sent... as in someone that wasn't me... And then tried to blame it on the grubhub app claiming they dont participate with it but they are definitely on the grubhub site... I do not recommend the food and only ordered it because I was out all day and tired and they are close to where I live... I'm very disappointed and refuse to order from this...
Read moreFirst time at El Vaquero which is sort of hidden away in Spring Grove and operated by a family with a clear and proud Mexican heritage. I had the Huevos con Rajas and my wife had the Huevos con Chorizo. The Huevos were fully loaded and came with ample sides of rice, beans and tortillas. Very tasty and quite filling. Simply stated the food was delightful, the service was spot on (the server took the different orders for five of us, did not record or write anything down and delivered everything perfectly) and the prices were reasonable. Our three partners for breakfast were highly complimentary of their food as well. Both their breakfast menu and their dinner menu are expansive and diverse. Definitely plan on visiting again to sample their dinner fare, especially their Mexican food. STRONGLY recommend...
