Lodge Coffee House & Tavern — Restaurant in Spring Valley

This placed is based on an interesting concept- part coffee house, part bar with some video poker throne in. They have been going through quite a few staffing changes lately, but it's starting to even out. The coffee is pretty decent most days. It's been getting better since the staffing situation is being worked out. If you're looking for full service bar this is not the place you want. They have a small selection beer in a fridge and the ingredients they need to make their select cocktails and common drinks. For example, they have olives but no mint. It's the only self labeled tavern I've seen that does not have beer on tap. They have a short food menu, and they been making small changes lately. Sandwiches no longer come with chips. The staff are pretty friendly and know their regulars pretty well. I've walked into this place and been the only customer. At other times, the parking lot is full. This place is still trying to find its identity. I'm usually there for coffee, and that works out...

I've been coming to this coffee shop for the last year or so, and I don't think I'll be returning. I stopped in for coffee today around 11am. The place was not busy at all, and there was two bar tenders working. One of them, specifically, had a very poor attitude taking my simple coffee order. As I came in, she did not acknowledge me, and even had me go to the end of the bar to order coffee instead of coming to the coffee order counter. so, I order my cup of coffee with her, she simply walks off...no "thank you" or "I'll have it ready." I set my laptop down and wait for my coffee. Once done, she sets it at the bar and brings me the bill. Again, no acknowledgement nor gratitude, even though I still tipped her, said please and thank you. Simple manners! Just as I sit down to work, I hear her say "oh! Why the hell do they move my chairs" as she pushes the chair I was leaning on when I got my coffee. It's too bad I didn't catch her name...who knows if management...

I love this place! The atmosphere is great. Bar seating is nicely spaced so your not ontop of the person next to you. There are still plenty of seats there to accommodate all. The tavern also has free pool, with a total of 4 tables. Those, are up off the main floor in a different "room", which is great! The food is delicious! Menue has a great selection of food! Great appetizers, munchie food, right down to full blown meals. NO VEGETARIAN/VEGAN FOOD SERVED HERE! There are 3 different sections to sit at. One is a high booth area that can fit 4-6 people, with a short table or 2 by that. That is located by the front door. On the other side of the bar, there are 6 short tables for people to sit at. This is the main area of congragation. They also have a completely separate room that is just a restaurant. There are 2 bartenders that I absolutely love!! On swing is Robert and graves is Aaron!
