We were turned away during normally open hours because of a private function. What business owners don't understand that they ought to hand out 50% coupons to customers who are shunned away in this manner?
We had tried to eat here because of a previous acceptable time getting a bite here, which is the only place convenient to our favorite city park. The food was good but uninspired diner-type stuff. We wish they would recognize that many of their customers are park walkers and horse lovers who prefer some menu offerings that are edgy, light, and fresh instead of heavy old-style fatty things.
Service is good. Kinda feels like a family is running the place, so there is some sense that genuine people are working to serve us instead of the smarmy saccharine service we see at chain restaurants. They don't seem to be beat down by domineering managers. They don't seem to be trying to milk us.
The decor is dank, worn, and outdated. Thankfully, though, it is quiet without obnoxiously loud music or bad sound proofing that makes people feel hammered by echos. They could benefit by updating the potentially spectacular space to have a brighter "greenhouse" feeling with better light and some healthy plants to accompany...
Read moreOrdered 2 sodas, 2 sandwiches and 2 side salads for delivery from conshy menus... they managed to get one sandwich correct.
The 2 sodas were both not of the type we ordered.
One "chicken sandwich" was literally just a piece of plain, dry grilled chicken on bread.
One side salad was completely missing and the other was just a tiny amount of wilted lettuce soaked in ceasar dressing.
I called about this and they tried to justify it by saying they ran out of vegetables... so they intentionally messed up my ordered then proceeded to charge me full price. After some discussion with an employee/owner who had a bit of an attitude they agreed to refund my credit card. They of course never did and when I contacted them again several days later they offered to give me $8 back (of the $35 order) for a salad valued at $4.25 and for the missing parts of one of the sandwiches valued at $2.75.
I think that's what's called adding insult to injury. I decided to let Bruno's keep their $8... it's a fair price for never having to deal...
Read moreIf you're wondering whether this restaurant has improved since it was featured on Gordon Ramsey's Secret Service, unfortunately I can't say it has from my view. I looked at the grill and it was just as dirty as in the show. The spoon in the coffee I was served had what looked like dried tomato sauce on it. I ordered the waffle, it had black bits throughout it that seemed to be the charred crumbs of previously made waffles, which indicates to me that they didn't wash the waffle iron. The waffle was also bland tasting. In addition to all of this, the place smelled intensely of grease. It needs better ventilation, they need to be closed more time out of the week to clean, and they need to clean their equipment between uses, as Gordon Ramsey told them to. I wanted to like this place, but I'm extra disappointed because they had a second chance to become something great and...
