Beautiful old stone two lane bridge over the Wissahickon Creek. Here the creek runs roughly northwest to southeast and the bridge is roughly perpendicular (I could be a little off). There's a parking lot and trailhead on the northeastern end and access to Forbidden Drive on the southwestern. On a nice day traffic can move a little slow between the stop at the foot of the bridge on the southwestern end and people crossing Bells Mill Road on Forbidden Drive or the trail. There is no shoulder or sidewalk, so it can be a little difficult crossing the creek on foot or bicycle. There are two parking lots on either side of the bridge that reduce the need for foot traffic. The aforementioned one to the northeast is just off the bridge and is within sight of the creek. The other one is to the southwest of the bridge and is perhaps 150 yards from Forbidden Drive. You can walk along the road down to the Drive or take a trail that starts at the end of the lot. The attached photo is taken from near the southern Bank of the creek just off the Drive looking upstream roughly northwest to the bridge.

Beautiful stone arch span. Snapped a few photos before the sun went out for the day. Traffic is fast and unforgiving, so my photos are from outside the span. Excellent parking and access to the creek and bridge. Nice find on our tour today.

This twin arch, stone built bridge has been in service along Bells Mill Road since 1820. The bridge spans a beautiful portion of the Wissahickon Creek.

The Bells Mill Road Bridge is a charming piece of Philadelphia’s history, gracefully arching over the Wissahickon Creek. This stone bridge, with its origins in the 19th century, has been a steadfast connector for the community, linking generations with its enduring presence. Recently revitalized to meet modern demands, it continues to offer a picturesque passage through time, blending seamlessly with the natural beauty of its surroundings. It’s a silent storyteller of the city’s past, inviting passersby to pause and appreciate the continuity of tradition...

The bridge itself is fine, but the real reason people come here is because there are two parking lots for the north part of Wissahikon park and several popular trails. The west parking lot has closer access to Forbidden Drive (a popular walking biking trail) and the yellow trail. The east parking lot is closer to the...
