Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Springfield

THE DAIRY QUEEN AT 19TH AND N.GRAND IS A CLASS ACT. THEY VALUE THE CUSTOMER ALL YHE WAY.THE ONE ON DIRKSEN PKWY. IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY.I WENT THERE EVERYDAY FOR 20 DAYS AND ORDERED THE 6.00 BOX LUNCH WITH DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER CATSUP. MUSTARD. LETTUCE AND TOMATO. OUT OF 20 TIMES THEY GOT IT RIGHT 4. TIMES. I CALLED THE STORE EVERYTIME SND TOLD MANAGER. 3 TIMES THEY SAID THEY WERE SENDING REPLACRMENT COUPONS IN MAIL. THEY NEVER CAME. ALSO I ASKED THEM TO WRAP SANDWICH BECAUSE I HAVE A 10 MILE DRIVE HOME AND SANDWICH GETS COLD .DRIED OUT AND NO GOOD .BUT WHRN WRAPPED IN BOX IT IS IN GOOD SHAPE WHEN IGET HOME. FOR SOME REASON THE STAFF POINT AT MR AND SAY THINGS TO COWORKERS WHEN I COME TO STORE . AND NOW I DONT BOTHER STOPPING THERE AT ALL...THE MANAGER COULD CARE LESS. I ASAS M ON A SPECIAL DIET AND A PSTIENT ST THE HEART CLINIC.ONE OF THE MEALS IS PERFECT FOR OUR PROGRAM. WITH THE SERVICE YOU GET AT THE DQ ON DIRKSEN . I WILL NEVER PASS ON THE INFO. BECAUSE OF THAT. AND THERE ARE 20.000 PEOPLE IN THE PROGRAM....

The staff seemed frustrated with other coworkers. Not directly rude, but certainly not pleasant. I get it, and I wasn't upset. The cashier, who I think was also an assistant manager(her name tag didn't identify her as such, but she mentioned she had keys to lock up), was VERY upset at the shorthandedness of the day. She made her anger, disappointment, and frustration known with the use of very colorful language that I am, honestly, rather impressed by. I can unleash quite the verbiage at times of high stress, so I was not offended. However, it probably wasn't appropriate either. Food was fine. What I could see of the kitchen, was clean. My order was accurate. Obviously, due to staff shortages that we were made aware, our order took a few minutes longer to get, but, it was accurate and well made....

Foid is good, it's my "go to" Dairy Queen, even though I live across town on the west side. Service is good, Staff is friendly. I absolutely LOVE their honey barbecue chicken strips! Their chocolate covered strawberry blizzard is to die for! They make the best blizzards and don't skimp on ingredients, although I always order extra ingredients, just because.😁 My only complaint is, when eating inside it's SO COLD. I worked at DQ years ago and I know it's hot in the kitchen, so I understand. I mostly use drive through so it isn't a big problem -oh- and they are just as good in the drive through - no skimping or rushing and getting the wrong orders like some of the others.
