Bob’s Country Cafe is one of those hidden gems! We visited Saint James for the first time and stayed right down the road from Bob’s. I’ll always choose a diner first when it’s an option. There is nothing like delicious local cooking! When we got to Bob’s, I’ll admit I hesitated. It’s this long building off the road with a few classic cars in front from local patrons. I didn’t know if my whole family would fit. We walked in and they make you feel right at home. Seat yourself and have some delicious fresh coffee. The waitresses are smiles, the cooks were on point stocking the breakfast buffet. You can choose menu or buffet or both. We did the buffet since we had picky kids. The buffet was phenomenal!!!! A few different potatos done so right; pancakes, French toast, glazed apples, the good bacon and sausages, some fruit on another bar and salad on another. The food here was SO GOOD!! It really set my day right! I am so glad we took a chance on this hidden treasure! I would absolutely go back! Highly recommend!

Possibly some of the best fried catfish I’ve ever had! Traveling Route 66 and happen to be passing this area at lunch time so we stopped. Plenty of parking - including for RV and trailers in the back just watch out for the pot holes. Once you get inside be sure to check out the tribute to American soldiers. My husband and I both ordered the catfish sandwich. The batter is light and tasty - plenty of fresh catfish loaded on the bun. I am a fan of the veggie toppings on the side - the tomatoes were fresh and sweet onions I ate raw off the sandwich! If you don’t like veggies they are on the side so you can give them to your luncheon partner. I also want to note their buffet looked amazing. I saw kids loading up on biscuits & gravy and heaps of green beans! That says a lot about this place when youngsters are filling their plate with veggies! Must stop here if you enjoy amazing country cooking and sweet home town service and friendliness.

Service was 4.5 for sure. Food was much closer to 3.8-4, so I chose 4 stars here. Our waitress was super sweet, though a bit distracted and not insanely attentive. My kiddo opted for the buffet. I looked it over and knew I’d likely overeat, but nothing looked so amazing that I wanted to waste the calories. My 3-egg omelet was essentially scrambled eggs with sausage and cheese inside. Tasted fine, though definitely not an omelet. My wife’s pot roast was very tender, but she said the gravy tasted like it was out of a can. Her baked potato was yummy, she said. I love little, local places like this. My preference when I travel anywhere. I’d definitely return and just try something else.

My wife and I went there for breakfast 3 days in a row, the service and the food was amazing during the morning.

On day 3 we went there for a late lunch as well. The afternoon waitress however forgot about taking our order for over 30 minutes. And then when she finally realized that she forgot she just giggled and said i guess i just forgot about you.

I then ordered the broasted chicken with mashed potatoes with extra brown gravy for the mashed potatoes.

When the meal came out, they had poured white gravy over the mashed potatoes and all over every piece of chicken on the plate.

Who, orders broasted chicken and requests that gravy be poured all over every piece of chicken?

When my wife brought it to the waitresses attention she said well i will take $2.50 off of your meal.

She never offered to have the meal re-made nor did she offer a refund which would have been appropriate.

Needless to say, we didn't eat neither of our meals. We just paid for them and left.

Maybe the 3:00 pm waitress who served the tables nearest the cash register on 06/28/2023, should be retrained by the gal who worked the morning shift on the same day ! Now, she was polite, professional, and came back several times to ensure that we were satisfied with our...

Been by here hundreds of times and this was our 1st time stopping in. Shame on me for not stopping sooner. We were greeted at the door by the owner who politely let us know to sit where ever we wanted. Waitress was there right away to get our drink order and bring the menus. Really good service.Stopped in kinda late for dinner and wow, the food that came out was amazing. I had a chicken breast smothered in onions and cheese. Chicken was super juicy and full of flavor. Not overbearing like some big chains do but very suttle. Went overboard and also got their cream cheese/jalapeno stuffed burger. Damn, I'm glad I did. Very large patty cooked just right. The jalapeno wasn't super spicy. Gave it that little kick. Wife ordered the pork chops with applesauce. Very tender, very juicy and quite large. Thats what I'm aiming for next time. And let us not leave out the hand dipped REAL onion rings. Not those mamby pamby BK lounge wanna be's If your hungry and want some great home cookin vittles, you need to stop by. Just make sure to wear your...
