Check out the photos. I just posted their updated menus. The new pizza additions are pure heaven! Amazingly they offer gluten-free pizza. They offer other fare, too - hamburgers, fries and such, but pizza was my secret craving this week, so pizza it is. Did a take-home as I was in a hurry and - OMG!! Just ate my first piece! My tastebuds just experienced Nirvana! Pepe's - WATCH OUT! I can't wait to try out their other flavors, too. Looks delish. I had their Tonight's Special (which is a regular on the menu) and my tastebuds thought they died and went to pizza heaven. ( I ate 3-yes! - 3 pieces because I couldn't help myself) I do believe that was the best pizza I have ever eaten. The crisp crust, the seasonings, the original blend of flavors all came together for a flavor blitz of shear joy. I was talking to a server and they make their own crust, their own sauce and you can tell they use high quality products. I like that they have small & large sizes, are well priced and their flavor offerings are some traditional, plus some unique flavor blends of their own. Not your run-of-the-mill pizza offerings at all! Great local place to go for a bite and a drink. Great, friendly service, too. I think the pizza reviewer on youtube, Dave Portney/Barstool Pizza Review, should review this place if he hasn't already. Postnote: Wanted to see if this passes the "eat it cold right of the refrigerator" test - it did. Still yummy. Crust a little too crusty, but...
Read moreIf you are hungry, don’t sit at the bar side! The food took a very long time to arrive!!!! It seemed that the chef was unable to multi task or make multiple orders at the same time, and he would take long smoke breaks every 15-20 minutes. We ordered fries when we first arrived, then 40 minutes later we ordered wings and pizza. After waiting another 40 more minutes, the wings came out first….. then the fries & pizza. So yes, it took 80 minutes to make a SIMPLE order of fries. We saw many fries ready at the kitchen window come and go… very disappointing!! And the waitress barely came by to update us on our food, or refill our drinks, but honestly I think she was embarrassed about the poor kitchen service! The sticky fries and wings were amazing. The pizza on the other hand was unacceptable (just like the service and long wait)- everyone kept raving about the pizza, but it was terrible! The pizza was flavorless, the dough too thick, and there was barely any sauce or toppings. The people sitting behind us got their pizza very quickly after arriving…. I do NOT...
Read moreAbout a week ago, we learned that Mike's on Main had their "soft opening", meaning that they were not "officially" open in full operating mode. We initially tried their "Classic Red" pizza and it was amazing! It's New Haven style - meaning it's thin crust pizza, but NOT the thinness of Brick Oven pizza. The marriage of the basil, garlic and fresh mozzarella on their incredible pizza sauce was phenomenal. It was SO delicious that we ordered another one two days later. Last night we tried 2 of their sandwiches: The tuna melt sandwich and the Philly cheese steak grinder. The portions were huge and the French Fries were to die for. What a flavor! Stafford needed a new option in town. I had the pleasure of meeting Mike, the owner and he's a guy FULLY committed to a high quality product and he's certainly delivering in the early stages! Best of luck, Mike. You also have a great staff of workers who are welcoming and appear committed to your goals. See you...
