Cantina Margaritas Mexican Grill - Stanley — Restaurant in Stanley

We ate there again tonight after first finding it 3 days ago. Both were excellent experiences. Both times the food was delicious, the service attentive (the first time was on a Tuesday night and not very busy while tonight - Friday - it was packed), and the atmosphere casual and welcoming. So excited to have good Mexican dining close to home in rural WI. We already know it's our new favorite place to eat. You have to try their homemade chunky guacamole. Even my husband who has never liked guacamole is raving about it. And you can get containers of it to go! Edited to say: Yet another great dinner out here!!! They do not disappoint!!!

The alcohol drinks are a bit pricey, but we're not going for the drinks. Edited to say: they have drink specials and are starting Margarita specials on Wednesdays according their Facebook page.

Covid considerations: the staff wears masks. Obvious precautions are taken, such as eating utensils being given after being seated and they are in bags. We are fully vaccinated now so feel quite comfortable eating there. 6 foot distancing is not an option when the restaurant is full. I don't have any information about the quality of their...

I hate to do this, this used to be my favorite place to eat in town. This was only a few months after they opened and the quality of the food was excellent. My favorite part about this restaurant is that they have options for picky eaters. My wife loves Mexican food whereas I typically don’t because I don’t like beans, onions, peppers, etc.

But the past year or so we’ve been ordering less frequently. I don’t know why, but the quality has fallen off. I’m only writing this to create awareness incase the owner of the company goes over reviews. They’re definitely starting to slide. Will continue a few more times to see if at any point they get back to their initial quality. Seems to me initially they may have been more passionate about the new business venture, but now the quality of the service and food says that it’s becoming more mundane. This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant! We love that it's so close to where we live. It is hard to find such delicious Mexican food without driving to eau Claire or Wausau! I should have taken a before picture but the food is just so amazing that unfortunately I didn't get a chance so y'all get an after picture of the beef fajitas I destroyed. I love that the staff are just so awesome, kind, and always on top of their tables. Also last time we were there we got complimentary little fried chips with chocolate sauce on them and it was the perfect little end to the meal(this time we got the fried ice cream) I hope next time to try the tres leches for desert but it was out this time.
