Tex-Ken Ranch Steak House — Restaurant in Stephenville

My husband made reservations for our 11 year anniversary & Tex-Ken did not disappoint our visit in any way. The hostess were lovely, we were seated in a private room, alone and accompanied by old school country love songs. Perfect touch if I might say so myself!

This restaurant is absolutely stunning and I adore how much detail each room has, a little backstory; every child and grandchild In the Thompson family is incorporated into this restaurant in some way. Our server was Brooke, she was amazing and very tentative, made sure we knew everything about the menu and did not have any questions. One of the best servers we’ve had in a long time! The photos I took do not serve this steakhouse justice, the steak was cooked to perfection & in my eyes is hard to do (we never visit steakhouses because I like my steak rare, I mean 2 minutes on each side, might of just had its last moo, and usually my husband is the only person that can cook it to my perfection) welp Tex-Ken definitely delivered! And the Oscar style steak OMG talk about heaven! Literally Melts in your mouth. Oh and did I mention all the meat comes directly from their meat market right next door! Sir/ma’am that’s about as fresh as you’re gunna get!! The salad was great, dressing wasn’t to over powerful and the sides were phenomenal. Boy oh boy let me tell you about their Key Lime pie, I believe, no I know that the best you can buy is in Florida, well no need to fear we have the best right here in Stephenville America! I cannot take away from this establishments food as it is good. If you plan to take a large party in I HIGHLY recommend you go elsewhere! You will be charged a room FEE which is referred to as a deposit but in fact you DO NOT get money back. You will be charged $500 for a room ($250 not coming back for the room and $250 going toward food) however watch how many drinks you have as you may pay for a room all night but you in fact DO NOT HAVE it if you choose to drink. The manager told me “they will no longer accommodate separate tabs” so if you take a large party in plan to share a bill!

We got chew spit in our face by our waiter “who was in the military” (as was my husband and has nothing to do with anything). The owners wife came in we asked why we were cut off and that we paid for the “room” for the night. She stated she would get the manager. This is not your average dinner, every expectation I had was far exceeded! Each and every aspect from the waiting area outside, the saddle ride in the front lobby, the amazingly done western themes throughout the restaurant were enough to feel like you were back in the good ole days. The food…you’ll never have to wonder where it may have came from because the beef is locally raised and processed! They take pride in their beef and it shows in these fabulously artistic cuts of meat, perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection!
