Mochastar coffee — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

Went there for the first time today & first surprise was the credit card fee. No other restaurant in the area charges any credit card fee, but for some reason this restaurant does. When I asked why is it like this?? They keep saying that "oh it is the system, we can do nothing about it." Bro it's your system what do you mean you can do nothing about it??? Get rid of that system, or at least put a sign on the cash counter saying you charge credit card fees. You chose to do this, so what do u mean u can't do nothing about it?! 2nd surprise was the strawberry Bananza smoothie with strawberry, banana, honey and white chocolate which I ordered. It was made with strawberry only, no banana, no white chocolate & no honey. If u gonna put the description of the item on your website in a certain manner than you should serve the item accordingly. $7.49 down the drain just like that. 3rd surprise was the Sirloin Steak Sub & I don’t know what's with the fancy name, but it's just regular steak. It tasted good, but also some meat inside the sub felt like it was undercooked & it was hard to chew. Still I felt like $11 went down the drain. The French fries were good no complaints there, but they named their regular French Fries "Slappin Seasoned Fries". Don't know what's with the fancy names on their items when it's undercooked, hard to chew & tastes very basic. Very dishonest people, don't get me wrong their smoothies are good, however, they charge 3 dollars for Fat Burner to be added to your smoothie, we always order a carry out for pick up so one day we called up there to order the usual. The rep on the phone said we don't have any fat burner "I thought they had just run out at that moment" I asked the person when did they run out and they told me they never had a fat burner.... interesting. The next time I ordered I decided to go in there and ask for fat burner to be added to my smoothie, they gladly said sure and charged me for it. I had asked the guy what kind of fat burner do you use? Can I see the bottle, he immediately got nervous knowing I was on to their little scam. I told him why do you guys lie and charge for something you know you don't have? He repeatedly apologized and said he would take it off and not offer it. Its 3 bucks but times it by the 20 smoothies I bought from them over the last couple months that's 60 bucks. Its not even the money, more so that they are being deceitful and sneaky charging you for something they clearly don't even have. This is bad business and for that I will never spend another dollar there. That is a scum bag move and it is not honest business at all. First off, the customer service here reminded me of the hospitality I’ve received at five star hotels. The gentlemen working behind the counter were extremely kind, and most importantly patient and helpful when we couldn’t make up our minds on what to get. They also checked on us, which they definitely didn’t have to.

We were sold on getting smoothies (surprisingly that wasn’t our first option when ordering). We got passion fruit mango smoothies that had the perfect texture. Maybe I’m not a smoothie connoisseur because I’m happy with my Tropicals and Jambas, but this blew them both out the water!

We ordered a chicken shawarma wrap, Philly sub, fries and a chicken shawarma bowl. I am not over exaggerating when I say I was falling back in my chair with each bite. The young man at the counter even said that their boom boom sauce we chose for our bowl was house made! Delicious!

Finally, the strawberry shortcake was the perfect sweetness. Not so sugary like some places, and the strawberry shortcake flavor kind of reminded me of the ice cream pops I got from the ice cream truck during my childhood.

Also, if you’re not a smoothie person, they have pressed juices and a soft drink/soda machine so you can wash down your meal. On a nice day, go sit out on their mini patio and enjoy the sunshine and breeze...
