Clive's Staples Coffee Shop & Bakery — Restaurant in Sterling

I have come into Clive’s multiple times over the past two years now, and have always enjoyed the experience. However, the experience I had there with my dad today was disappointing. We walked in to no line and a group sitting towards the back.

We gave our order and sat down to wait. We waited for 25 minutes for 2 coffees, a cookie, and a cinnamon role. Aside from our order, the group in the back had 2 coffees and a pastry delivered while we waited. Having myself worked in the food service industry for last 9 years, I was seriously shocked. One of those food service jobs was also a locally owned coffee shop so I have a pretty decent understanding of what the work environment is like … once we received our order, we left (as we had somewhere to be), only to realize that my dad’s cinnamon role was rock hard, his coffee was cold (actually cold!) and there was no sugar added to the coffee like he had asked for. My order on the other hand was perfect.

Clive's is a great coffee shop. While it is in small town Sterling, it is the kind of coffee shop that even large cities would love to have. It has the kindest employees with exceptional service.

My wife and I have ordered many things from them and everything has always been fantastic. We drinks are delicious and not watered down like some places. The pastries are great, especially the baked donuts.

Everything is amazing!! This is a “pull off the high way while traveling” type place. Everything is amazing. Great coffee and amazing food. The bagels are the perfect mix of chewy, fluffy, little doughy, little firm truly everything you’d want in a bagel. The scones have the perfect level of sweetness - not too sweet, just enough.
