Let me start by saying I love sonic. I grew up in Woodward and that location is on point. When we travel, I love sonic. It's a fun place, right?
At this location, only compared to other sonics, I will review. This is the closest sonic to our home, there are limited restaurants on this end of town, so I have had numerous visits even when I'm not in the mood for it.
The car hops are very friendly. Service is great. The lot is clean. Food comes (most of the time) reasonably fast. That's all wonderful. There are even a few roller skaters (always a fun plus).
But you go to eat, so you can have food. Food quality is the poorest in this place. This particular sonic has the worst food quality of any sonic I've ever eaten in 40 years of life. The meat is often over steamed and sometimes sour tasting. The tots are often over streamed rendering them into rubber pucks with cheese. Sometimes they're burnt, yet still incredibly cold. I'm certain these machines are on timers, so how are they burning so often? They don't season the meat, and I don't know why because the seasoning makes the sonic burger. The vegetables are wilted half the time... like, pretty sure they're past the 3 day limit on some days. Not always though. It's inconsistencies are the only consistent thing. The buns are smashed, the silver paper crumpled (compared to sonics that fold the wrapper nicely and keep the burger fluffy and tall without wrinkles in the bun).
The Coneys are done fairly well most of the time, not overly sauced. I've only had a very few times the drinks weren't good, and that's common issues like Carbonation or syrup needing changed. Nothing to fuss over. The onion rings aren't the best of all sonics, but they're still delicious. There used to be a lady that double dipped them and oh my goodness, that was awesome. I wish she still worked there. The shakes and ice cream are good. Mozzarella sticks are my favorite snack. I love that.
It just appears there's a cook who hates their craft. That's my only main concern. There is about 1/7th of the time I get a meal I can't even eat at all... who has to throw away a burger and tots? That's sad, makes you get tears in your eyes. I find myself taking the extra miles to drive into town for Braum's or McDonald's lately... but they don't have onion rings. Please figure this out, friends. The other sonics in town are not as gross... but that's a long drive. By then, I'll just eat something else. The original sonic has a crew mannerism I don't care for, and it's dirtier than the other two so I avoid it. It's better on flavor but the rest of the experience brings it down. The Perkins road sonic is good and when I'm on that end of town I do grab some. I get a smile and remember why I liked sonic in the first place.
1 star for kindness, and 1 star because I really do love sonic. 0 stars overall until the food is...
Read moreMy wife and I had a terrible experience at this Sonic this past evening. First, we ordered through the "red button" vs. the app which I almost never do. It took a very long time to get our order. I ordered "a #1 meal with no mayo or catchup with mustard." Seems pretty easy, right? When I got my hamburger it had no mustard, one pickle, no tomato, and the smallest amount of lettuce and onion you can imagine. It was basically the meat patty cheese, and the bun. I flagged down the young lady who took our order and pointed out my problem with the burger. Then another lady, I assume who was a manager, came out and asked what the issue was. I showed her the burger, that it didn't have mustard, and lacked tomato and almost no lettuce or onion. She had a difficult time understanding my issue. I had to explain several different ways I want everything on it ... but with mustard. She apologized & took the burger along with my receipt & said the burger would be "remade." I assumed, incorrectly, that I would have a new burger. About five minutes later the second lady, again - probably a supervisor/manager, brought me a new sack with what I assumed was a new cheese burger in it. She told me, "We're out of tomatoes, is that okay?" It had taken a long, long time to get to this point and I said, "That's fine." The lady left and I opened up the bag to find a burger in the wrapper that was still surprisingly thin. I opened the package to find my original burger, cold, no more lettuce or onion, with a small amount of mustard on one of the two buns. In addition to the cheese burger being completely cold, the taste & texture of the onion rings is meaningfully different than what it has been in the past. Sonic sold to a different company a few years ago and I assume they've changed the recipe of the onion rings to save money. If we hadn't already been there for 20-25 minutes and the fact that it was 10:00 pm, I would have sent it back again. Bottom line, this visit was nearly a complete fail. We go to this Sonic nearly every time we're in Stillwater (we live in Edmond), but we usually only get drinks. In the future, I will not be ordering any food there, only drinks. Not...
Read moreThe manager followed me to my vehicle arguing then called me names? What did I do ? Ordered a slush off the application. I got to the stall and checked in the light came on the screen. After about 10 minutes the light went off, but no drink was delivered, I waited about 5 minutes and still no slush so I pressed the call button, it was answered by a male. When I said the light was off but my order was not delivered he said "We are busy you are gonna have to wait." so, I sat there another 15 minutes still no slush? Now I have been there 33 minutes now for 1 drink I have watched people come and go?
I got out of my truck and opened the door to their establishment and not one person acknowledged me so I went inside two steps and asked what was going on and if I could have my order. Instead of helping me the manager (I believe he said his name was Jayden?) attacked me for coming in his little kitchen area? Well I would not have been in there at all if you would have did your job and delivered my drink or "at least helped me" when I tried to get help thru the intercom! but, Instead the manager follows me outside to my truck and proceeds to tell me he is busy because he had to keep me a "Demented Old Man" out of his lil kitchen. Great Customer Service Skills. Not!!!
I have ordered there almost daily, some food, mostly large slushes but I have been doing it for over 2 years now. Since we moved here to this neighborhood. Now Im done I threw away my slush because I can't trust them now if thats their manager. I could understand mistakes like not delivering food or mixing up an order but who treats Customers like that? I have never been called demented or old before? Your manager is lucky he did not wear that slush but I have better people skills obviously although he was very close! It is a shame your manager had to ruin it...
