Perfectly executed fresh local dishes!!!! I have been baffled with a way to characterize this incredible locals spot. The food here ranks easily within the top five restaurants in all of the keys, the pricing is quite reasonable and my favorite part is that the restaurant and the dishes aren't unnecessarily cheffy or pretentious- they just focus on perfectly executed local favorites with the freshest of ingredients.
If you have the option to go to one spot during your trip to the keys, this needs to be your must stop spot. The seared sesame ahi appetizer has ruined all other tuna for me. I have never had such tender, sweet, and deliciously fresh tuna in my life, and I'm a sushi fiend!!!! The tuna and avocado egg rolls sauce had the perfect zing, however the filling in the egg roll was slightly soggy and the tuna was overwhelmed by the avocado. The square grouper sandwich was so moist and flaky at the same time! It was a perfectly fried fish sandwich and there was not a drop of grease in the breading!! Even the bread that was served before our mural was a delightful treat with surprise fresh pretzels and rolls with soft butter. My wife had the grilled grouper and it was so tender and perfectly cooked, again such a deliciously fresh and clean meal. I love that everything on the plate adds to the dish without muddling the flavors, and I will say it again everything is so fresh! And the key lime pie... oh my gosh with the berry coulis garnish... it is the perfect way to end a five-star meal. I'll be back again and again and again. Thank you for such a delightful meal, I can't wait for you to open tomorrow so I...
Read moreIt's a so sad, when the owners try so hard and the employees ...just ruin everything. Everything was fine except our waitress. We wait 45mins for a table for two ( I have a friend visiting me from another state). We sat at the table and 4 minutes later another couple got seated at the other half of the same table (properly divided). The waitress jump on them and welcome them warmly. The gentleman had the courtesy to tell her "they got here before us", and when she pretend she didn't hear him, he repeated " this is not right, it's their turn", then she continued her unacceptable behavior and said "it doesn't matter, it's the same". Once she left their table, the gentleman apologized to me for the waitress behavior and told me that's they are locals, living nearby and they are repeared customers. 10 minutes later, she came to take our order. The appetizer came in a reasonable time, but no bread was on our table ( I only noticed it when the gentleman next to us order a second round of bread), after we asked our waitress, she brought us some (fresh and warm). Our bad experience didn't end there though, I order a fish platter with Mahi-Mahi, and she told me that it doesn't come with a cole-slaw, and I had to order extra... When the platter arrived, it came with a cole-slaw in it plus the extra ? I asked her and she was surprised ( obviously she had no idea, how the platter is served), and she told me that she want charge us for it (it wasn't my mistake, anyway). Good food- bad service😞 I just noticed (when I post the receipt photo) that we were mis(?)charged for our Pasta Bowl with Pan...

Food: Coconut shrimp was heavenly. It had a crispy outside, the oil was just enough on the crispy batter, the shrimp inside was so soft and juicy. All this with the Manjo sauce was so delicious and it brought in the craving. One small thing - one of the shrimp was not deveined properly. I understand mistakes can happen.
The fried fish on in the burgers were flaky and moist. Correctly cooked and batter had was just right. Burger buns were so soft. Burgers looked big, taking it in the mouth due to softness it compressed enough to take a bite. This redefined my sense of burgers. Loved it. For the people who love spicy, get the hot sauce on the side and sprinkle salt on the fish patty. Because both the fish and the batter is bland.
Fish preparation of the day (Mahi), must try dish. The rice texture was great. Not chewy and not crunchy. Served with salad and a sweet sauce on the top.
The veg panini was great as well.
The best part is, quantity was enough to make you feel hungry at 6.30pm if you have lunch at 12.30pm. Presentation on the plate was appealing and appetizing.
We did not try desserts, but looking at the description it was mouth watering. Hope that would be great too.
Overall we had a best experience and I will return to this restaurant. 1dt time visited for the key west I recommend...
