Love this restaurant! Been here at least 3 or 4 times and will be back. Food is cooked fresh and is always high quality. I wish it was a little bigger for more privacy. Maybe they can acquire the space next door for expansion. Anyway, owner is very nice and personable! Great addition to Clayton County!
Followup Review: Today, my colleagues and I wanted to support a Black-owned business for lunch for the Black out. I suggested this restaurant as I had wonderful prior experiences. I will speak to only to my food and service. Our waitress was very polite and patient. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs without cheese (I am extremely lactose intolerant) and chicken sausage links. When my order came, my eggs looked delicious but they had areas of orange that appeared to be cheese. I asked my colleagues if they thought it looked like cheese and they agreed. So, I waited for our server to let her know but it took her a while to circle back to us. So I asked another employee to return the eggs and assured that they looked fine but I just didn't want any cheese. Our server returned with the eggs and said the cook said they just look like that because of how he cooked them. Well, at this point (more than 5 minutes) they were cold. So, she returns them to be re-made and she returns with completely different looking eggs that were overcooked and tasted like rubber. I stopped eating them and did not say anything further.
Shortly thereafter, the female owner comes out (I immediately recognized her) to ask if there was a problem. I said no. Then my colleagues interjected to explain. The owner says she is there to make things right. She insisted that the first order of eggs did not have cheese, but the second order looked different because the cook prepared them differently and did not want me to believe they had cheese again. I said okay. She asked what could she do to make things right. I replied nothing. Of course, I was charged for everything and I happily paid my bill.
Conclusion: I am not editing my first review in order to try to sabotage this business. I hope this business continues to thrive. I just will not spend my money here again.
Eggs are expensive and I understand how a small business's bottom line may be affected if customers kept sending things back and expecting them to be free. However, I let the owner know that I had been to her establishment before and brought other customers. This should have signaled to her that the right thing to do is not charge this customer who has surely brought in more than $9, the cost of two orders of eggs.
I did not ask her to do this because it should have been understood. The decision to alter the second order of eggs was petty especially since I told the employee that they looked great the way they were. It was like they intentionally sabotaged my order because I believed the first order had cheese and had gotten cold by the time they informed me it did not have cheese.
These are the reasons I will not be back. Please do the right thing when you know what it is and do not punish the customer for trying to ensure their food satisfies their...
Read moreI looked forward to the writing this review. While, I had heard about this gem, right in my Jonesboro community, I had not been and actually experienced it until this past Saturday AND Sunday. Yet, that's right, I visited Southern Fusion Bistro twice in one weekend. Let me start with first impression. STB is so nice, small and quaint with beautiful decor.
We were immediately greeted and seated. When our server came over, which much to our pleasure, we found out later was the actual owner Sean, He greeted and welcomed us in...first time patrons, and asked us how we heard about STB. Then he begin to let us know about the wonderful food options and recommendations. My friend and I was so pleased with his presentation, we both thought that he might likely be or had to be the owner. And, he was! So, our first visit, visit encounter, and first introduction was with Sean, the owner....AWESOME INDEED! About Sean, his delivery and customer service was impeccable! He ensure that what we wanted was what we received, paying close attention to whether we wanted something on the top or on the side. Simple things that can often be missed in the service.
Now, on to the food. I was still celebrating an earlier birthday, so my friend and I decided to come to STB. Decisions, decisions, so many good ones, but we decided on and ordered the Collard Green Egg Rolls, Fish and Grits with a side order of eggs (my friend), and the Big Breakfast for me. Hey, I was the birthday girl, so I wanted to experience as much as I could...:)! Ba-BY, those egg rolls were a DELISH HIT....seasoned to perfection WITH SMOKED TURKEY in them and a nice size portion of them. Full disclaimer, I pretty much ate them all...Lol!
When our entrees came out, they looked so good. Again, I ordered the Big Breakfast, with that delicious savory bacon, eggs, creamy (OMG) pepper jack grits...note I'm very picky about ordering grits... seasoned potatoes, and the delicious slightly dusted French toast. My friend ordered the fish and grits. The presentation was amazing the food was seasoned well and tasted really good. Although, after enjoying the eggs rolls, I was full. No worries at all, I took the rest of my food home to enjoy later. Btw I experienced it all today (Monday), once I got to to work for breakfast.
So, would I recommend STB....ABSOLUTELY. As I told Sean, I would be back. I just didn't know that it would be the next day with a friend, but it was. I visited again on Sunday with one of my girlfriends. We both ordered some of the eggs rooms, and the salmon croquettes. She too thoroughly enjoyed the egg rolls, her entre, and she loved the spot. She and I will both be back, along with the rest of our RorD Girl crew.
Meanwhile, keep up the good the work STB. We're so glad that you are part of our Jonesboro neighborhood and not very far from me! I look forward to my next visit and introducing this gem to my...
