Update: Saturday, September 23, 2023 p.m. Here again! It’s all good. We’ve never had a bad meal here. All the sushi is good. Sometimes we try different rolls. My son likes the California rolls I like the house rolls. We usually order a side of teriyaki chicken and a side of steamed rice. I drink water because your Diet Coke is not good. Hopefully they can get the machine fixed so I can order Diet Coke next time‼️🥴

Update: We ate here again the other night. My son really likes this place and it is growing on me. They have good sushi. They have awesome servers! We were only there two times and the third time the server remembered our order! That’s pretty awesome. My favorite so far is the teriyaki chicken and the house roll. My son likes the California roll. Seems like we are eating here at least once a week or maybe sometimes twice a week. If you haven’t been here, you’re missing out. Really good!! ————————- Update: Thursday, August 17, 2023 PM Not a great experience here tonight. First off, it was very very warm in the restaurant. I don’t know whether the owner doesn’t want to use the air conditioner or the air conditioner was broken but it was quite uncomfortable! Secondly, both of the rolls that I ordered had soggy tempura shrimp in them. Basically hard and chewy. Not acceptable. Items need to be fresh cooked. We will be looking for another source for good sushi that’s consistent. The restaurant was slammed and it seem to be only two servers for the whole restaurant. They did the best they could but they were way overworked. My son had to take his soda glass up to get it refilled! Yikes! ————————- Update: Sunday, July 30, 2023 PM We had a really good dinner and service last time we were here so we ate here again tonight! Three times in two days. It’s because of the food, the quantity, the quality, the prices and most of all the servers! We walked in…they were not real busy, and we could pick our own table. The same server we had last time came over and remembered exactly what we had even our drinks. That says a lot about this place. The servers are top-notch. They are efficient, always cleaning, always checking on you to make sure you have everything you need. My sons soda was never empty! My son had exactly the same order as last time. I wanted to try different items I started with a cucumber salad. I’ve had it before it other sushi restaurants and they did a great job here. I also had an appetizer size California roll and an appetizer size teriyaki chicken. It was all good and I left with a full tummy! I know we will be back soon. First time. Arrived Friday evening before the dinner rush. Not too busy but by the time we left there were no tables available.

Both my son and I ordered the $16.95 dinner that includes choice of three items. I had tempura, California roll, Teriyaki chicken, steamed rice, and salad. Not a bad deal for the price. Really the only issue was the tempura batter. It was a bit on the soggy side. Not made fresh for my order. Next time I will specify I would like it hot and fresh. My son had the teriyaki chicken and instead of another item he had two orders of the California roll. These are smaller than normal rolls but it’s still a good deal for 17 bucks. He also had the rice and salad. Excellent service. All the servers were pleasant and cheerful. We are looking forward...

06/27/2022: First visit here. This is a small Japanese restaurant but it is big on fresh fish. I had the chirashi bowl. It came with a beautiful assortment of fish - ahi, hamachi, red snapper, salmon, albacore tuna, and escolar - with seaweed salad and shredded daikon radish atop a bed of rice. My mother had the salmon shioyaki with salad, edamame, and rice. Both dishes were beautifully presented and satisfied our hunger. I also had the Special Columbia roll - deep fried shrimp, asparagus, and spicy salmon inside, topped with assorted fresh fish, sauces, and tobiko. The roll had about 10 pieces. It was a little too spicy for my palate, so I took it home to hubby.

Service here is good. The servers help with all the tables, and they are busy with serving food, bussing tables, and fulfilling takeout orders. Overall, they were attentive to refilling drinks and checking in with customers. If you've never been, give this...

This review has nothing to do with the food because I did not eat there, it involves the high level of disrespect I encountered when trying to order take out. It was my first time coming to the restaurant so I entered and immediately picked up a menu. I stood there waiting for the hostess to ask me what I wanted and to answer any questions I had about the menu but she never approached me, I figured she was very busy serving the seated customers. Another customer enters and the hostess literally bypasses me and asks them immediately what they wanted to order. I gave her the benefit of the doubt until this happened three more times!!! After that I approached her and told her I have never been so disrespected, she purposely avoided serving me and did not acknowledge me as a human being. She apologized and asked what I wanted to order but after that experience I will never order from this...

Toyo Sushi has fast become not only my favorite sushi spot in Stockton but one of my favorite restaurants anywhere! The sushi is fresh and delightful to the tastebuds. The one thing that AMAZES me though is the customer service. On just our second trip in they remembered that I like substituting soy wrap on any rolls that I get. Even now months later they always know what I like. It’s hard to find places like this anymore. It looks like just a hole in the wall across from Starbucks but in my opinion it doesn’t get any better for sushi in the City of Stockton.

I ordered bay bridge sushi, it's really yummie like what it looks, and the asparagus stick is crunchy. 3 items dinner for 15.99 but all from chicken. If orders with beef 18.99. The sevice is quite fast, the restaurant is not that big. It will be my go to for japanese foods. Update 4/1/2024 They raise the price, and then they still serve less meat on the order. See my previous picture and the current picture.
