The Jefferson has brought a perfect blend of comfort breakfast and lunch you'd expect in a small town cafe, but has elevated everything to rival any cafe in the bigger cities!
The steak tip special with the guiness and mustard marinade (the locals are clamoring for it to become a permanent menu item), the handmade biscuits, even the good ole' breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes will leave you raving, with the elevation of brioche toast, thick cut bacon, and the melt in your mouth magic potatoes sauteed in lard. Oh, and my favorite lunch is the turkey sandwich with the amazing aoli that is perfectly complimented by the tomato onion jam.
Don't get me started on the treat case that has the most delicious baked goods in or out of the seacoast! I don't know how Sara gets the consistency of each pastry just perfect, and her recipe balance never lets the sweet overpower the flavor. French toast cookies, cream cheese pumpkin muffins, and the variety of cobbler bar flavors matching the season are some of my favorites.
If your local, pop in, if you aren't, it's worth the drive! (And if you are from real far away, you could make a little getaway by staying in the Independence Inn, where the Jefferson is housed). Sara and Tyler love food and it shows. They are so friendly and have created a commity you will want...
Read moreMy husband & I have been trying to get over here since they opened and finally made it in for lunch on a rainy Thursday afternoon. Tired of eating mediocre food that just makes us feel like crap after, we're quite picky about eating out and it’s rare to find kitchens that make nearly everything from scratch, use organic flour & avoid unhealthy seed oils in their cooking. The Jefferson does it all and manages to make food that's inspired, flavorful & delicious. Menu is well-thought-out- focused with something for everyone and lots of extra options. We thoroughly enjoyed our Jefferson burger with that yummy jam and the tender pulled pork benedict with some tasty AF potatoes and the last of the day’s fluffy biscuits. We also scored the last peach cream puff, perfectly luscious & a blueberry muffin to go, which didn’t make it out the door. We appreciate that they source seasonal produce locally & properly brew some fine organic NH-roasted coffee. We’ve been to the Inn on several occasions and Sarah & Tyler have done an excellent job making the place stylish, inviting, and very much their own. Service is efficient & friendly, makes you want to come back for more. We look forward to trying everything as they offer weekly specials that indeed...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped by to check out the restaurant this morning with some of our family members. What a delightful surprise! The vibe is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere has a colonial vibe, and the stained glass and pretty bar area create a great space. It's bright and cheerful. The food was excellent. We ordered egg plates and French toast, and we shared different components. So many special touches that make the food special and unique. Get the jam for your brioche toast, you will not regret it. Coffee was hot (or iced) and generous. Sara and Tyler both spoke with our table and the food was delivered quickly! The menu is not large, but in the best way. There is attention to each plate and not an effort to do one million different things. Just doing what they do with...
