Huge difference in review from over 2 years ago. We have been a customer of Berserker's for years. They HAD good food, good portions, and a family of 4 could spend $50 and be satisfied. Now, this place is listing meals on a menu that belong at a real restaurant and they are greatly missing the mark on cooking them. My kids and I always go with breakfast no matter what time we go, my wife sticks to the traditional meal for the time of day. Our last visit on 8/15/25 will be our last. First, prices are getting out of hand, quality of food is getting worse, and the cooks just don't know what they are doing. We placed a simple order, pancakes, omelettes, sandwiches, etc...nothing complicated. My wife ordered grilled cheese with ham. Not hard to make, but apparently Juan, one of the cooks, is clearly has no clue. First attempt was nothing but toasted bread with cheese that wasnt even melted, and two slices of ham that barely covers half the sandwich. We send it back. This time there's clearly butter on the bread the way it should be, but barely anything on the sandwich, 2 slices of cheese and a folded over slice of ham. Sent it back, asked to have it taken off check. A few minutes later, Juan decides to exit the kitchen and approach our table and in front of the entire diner, 5 or 6 customers and their staff, he starts to argue and curse at the fact it got returned. Yelling ensues, I was about a minute from throwing a chair at him when he decided to turn and go back to his job. Juan, I don't care what hole in the wall dumps you cooked at, this place mustve been desperate to hire you, and even more desperate if they keep you. We will not be returning. You allow an employee, without provacation, to curse at a customer in front of everyone, woman claiming to be Manager in charge just stands there and does nothing and basically looks lost afterwards. God knows how this guy treats the wait staff. This place can close tomorrow and I would care less and not think twice about them. We'll go to Triplet's...
Read moreStopped in to Beseckers today to continue my tour of “the best omelet in the Poconos”. This was bittersweet for me right out of the gate because I used to come here often with my father before he passed away. I haven’t been here in over 15 years…it was my first time in without him. My server was very friendly and good at her job. The place honestly looked exactly as I remember it looking a decade and a half ago.
I ordered a western omelet with cheese, home fries, and rye toast. Trying to keep my order nearly the same everywhere I go so I can rate accurately. There were onions available for the home fries so I opted in for those. I love me some onions. The Omelet was cooked well, probably the best I’ve had so far as far as the cook on the eggs goes. Very light spots of brown here and there but pretty much spot on. The ham dice was a bit larger than ideal so some bites were a bit tough, like large pieces of ham can be. Otherwise this was excellent. The home fries were cooked well and the onion flavor was awesome. The toast was toast. The coffee was good, not great.
This cost a little more than other spots but home fries were an add on, and the onion was also an add on. Typically these spots have home fries come automatically with the omelet so I was surprised by that, but perhaps because the clientele is primarily senior citizens I guess maybe they don’t eat as much and it made more sense this way. If that was the case though, the omelet could have been another couple dollars less.
All in all it was a solid breakfast and I’m happy I came. Besecker’s diner in Stroudsburg, PA -...
Read moreSo I've lived in PA for about 20 years now...been to almost every diner in a 30 mile radius. I grew up in NJ which is the diner capital of the US(over 500, which is more than any other state) so we're serious about diners.
Some are good..some are bad..some are great.
I've been to Besecker's a number of times over the years, but I don't remember it being as good as it is now. I've been there probably 6 times in the last few months. Often with my sister who enjoys good diners as much as me.
It's just been awesome. First is the staff, they are always friendly, helpful and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable, seating is usually not a problem even when they are busy.
The food?? well here's where I think they are just better than most diners in the area..and I've been to all of them.
The home fries are fantastic..thinly sliced, cooked just right..not dry and when you add sautéd onions, is one of the reasons I will always want to eat breakfast at this diner..just awesome imo.
Omelettes are great, as is there toast.
Coffee is very good..which these days is actually unique for diners. Diners used to attract customers with great coffee, but most diners these days have horrible coffee..but the coffee here is very good. I appreciate that it's very likeable, so I don't have to drink water with my breakfast.
While I've not had the chance to try their lunch or dinner menu, I can say breakfast will get me back to this diner often... I do hope I can try their dinner and lunch specials soon.
Overall a great diner.
Keep up the great work...
