First time here. We looked at the menu before arriving, had food in mind expecting a restaurant. There was no hostess at the entrance, it was unclear what you were supposed to do. Confused, we went back outside to look up the venue again and still couldn't figure it out. We helped a kind blind gentleman through the door on our way back in and realized he was an employee. He was helpful in explaining you order food at the bar, there isn't full service staff like a restaurant.
You order/pay and are asked for a tip before you have a chance to experience anything and decide what's tip-worthy. The menu was limited (no idea why) and naturally, what I saw online and wanted was not on there. I chose a different sandwich with house chips which looked like thin sliced house fried potatoes in photos online. But alas, I couldn't have those either lol. The bar tender said "house chips" was a "misprint" and it's just a bag of normal chips. You choose drinks from names/abbreviations on a board, some descriptions would be very helpful as "draft" and "vat #1" doesn't tell me anything about the drink. I had read rave reviews about certain flavors and wanted to try them. They were out of 2-3 beverages of the 12 on tap. I was 0/3 on my top food, side, and drink choices.
We arrived early to avoid the crowd but it still took 45 minutes to get our food. You find your own place to sit, and retrieve your food from a window when your buzzer goes off. The tables were dirty, nothing is cleaned between guests. Our pretzel stick appetizer and fries were all cold. The burger and chicken sandwich were decent, but not worth the long wait and cold rest of the meal. The lack of info about the fend for yourself dining or how anything works, the reduced menu and changed items, out of drinks barely after opening, and slow food were off-putting. I may consider having a drink here again, but probably won't waste the aggravation trying to eat again.
Final observation - an employee tending the trash grabbed a flight board and used it to mash garbage down into the trashcan. The rims of your cups sit directly on those boards. Tables aren't cleaned between guests, so pretty unlikely the...
Β Β Β Read moreGreat place! I've loved Bold Rock Cider for years as its really smooth and tastes good, and now that I've been to the cidery I feel like my experience is complete. They have all the Cider flavors you could want, as well as many flavors that they only offer here! The staff were nice and knowledgeable, and the test drinks I ordered were as good as i knew they would be. They even have a stage in the back for concerts and a river for kids to play in when it gets warmer. All and all this seems like a great place to come and try drinks, but if you are coming to try ciders maybe come when the weather is warmer so you can go swimming afterwards! We decided to stop here with my grandfather during our ski vacation during the school year to get away from the stress of university life and the calming atmosphere of the alcohol and river make for quite a unique trip. I could see this as a great place to bring someone on a date, as it might be fun to sit on one of the rocks near the river and relax for some time. I will sure to return again once the weather warms up enough to go dip my feet...
Β Β Β Read moreI am from Nelson/Amherst area and absolutely love going to BoldRock. The drive and view is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. I love ciders, but I absolutely love BoldRock ciders, especially the seasonal ones. They are the perfect balance in my opinion, not too sweet and not too dry. When I do go to the brewery, itβs so relaxing and peaceful. Just being able to enjoy the views outside, music, friends. Iβve never had a bad encounter with the staff or service there. Iβve worked/managed many restaurants and I can say Iβve never seen any issues. You have your normal busy times and short staffed days so itβs understandable that every day wonβt be perfect, but even on those days the staff has a great attitude and goes above and beyond. Randi is one of my favorite employees to see, so personable, happy and a hard worker. Garrett and Cole are two other employees that are hard workers, personable and happy, that I like to see when I visit the brewery. Having an amazing staff is what makes the experience that much more amazing! Thank you for being one of my favorite...
