Let me start by saying this we spent about $700 for this evening. When we went it was 7:45 and they closed at 9:30. We made reservations well in advance for this time slot so ofcourse we didn’t feel like we were coming in close to closing or anything but this is how we felt. It was Sunday on valentines weekend but the restaurant was not busy, maybe 3 other visible tables. We had a party of 6 adults and 1 child.
The food-
for Apps-we ordered the short rib Mac and cheese, calamari, crab dip, and ceaser salad, and wings. Short ribs were amazing. Mac and cheese was not very hot or cheesy. Calamari had an amazing spicy sauce but the calamari was soft. Not Fried nearly long enough. Almost uncooked. Buffalo Wings were very very tasty almost a sweet spicy taste. Now for the crab dip-AMAZING. Wanted to order some to take home.
Dinner- we ordered the baseball sirloin in medium well. Received it well done. Was very chewy. Crab cake sandwich as well as crab cake dinner was DELICIOUS. So tasty the entire table had to taste. Duck confit was extremely overcooked.. which was disappointing because I love a crispy skin on my duck. The inside was just DRY. The beet puree it was on was amazing. Very tasty and slightly sweet. NY Strip was delicious. Seasoned well and cooked to perfection.
Dessert-crème brulee was ok. Would not order again. Ice cream scoop $3.. eh. What can you do.
Now for the service. Left much much much to be desired. When we first arrived we were seated quickly. But our service actually started that morning. A text confirmation we replied too.. then a few hours later a phone call Confirmation as well.. which is fine. We realized it was a booth so on the phone we requested a table due to one guests mobility issues. We were told They were completely booked so a booth was all they had.. ok no worries.. but remember we arrived and almost Every table was open. THEN at 6 we received ANOTHER CALL letting us know our reservation time was strict and if we arrive moments later than, we will not be seated. We had no intentions of being late but this gave us so much anxiety coming from Williamsburg we almost canceled. I wish we had. Our server came to the table but did not introduce herself so we didn’t know her name till Almost the end of service this it’s important because she NEVER refilled our drinks at all and when we tried to get her attention she completely ignored us. After EVERY glass was empty on the table we finally called Bartender, which called our server, Nicoles name. The manager came by to check on us pretty early when we first received our drinks and we appreciated that…but we would Of appreciated someone checking on us after we had no drinks, or ketchup, or steak sauce, or straws, or anything else we had to ask and re-ask for. We literally had to ask Her to clear our APP plates while we were eating dinner because all of the empty glasses and plates were overwhelming. Finally we just requested a decanter of water to keep us because constantly looking for our server was exhausting. This did not help our sweet tea drinkers.
This was my 3rd time here, and their first times. I’ve had one really good experience. 1 mediocre and now 1 awful. $700 evening not worth more than $100
I cannot recommend this to anyone.

Read moreMy husband and I have been patrons of Riverstone Chophouse for several years. We usually rave about the customer service as well as phenomenal food. Yesterday, I was with a party that decided to go during happy hour and I will never go back. The experience was unpleasant and a complete turn off. Our waitress Mariah (I only know her name from my receipt), came to our table as if she had better things to do. She was unwilling to explain the menu (there were some in our party that had never been to Riverstone) and when asked specific questions, came off as if we were annoying her. When one of the ladies in our party asked for more information regarding a specific wine to help determine what she would like to order, she was never offered or given the suggestion of a sample. She had to ask her if that was something she could do and Mariah simply stated, "sure". At this point, I was completely baffled at the service, but we all chose to order appetizers along with our drinks and stay. My appetizer came out 1st , prior to waters being served to everyone. Then, the remaining drink orders started to trickle in to our table. Next, we all noticed a HUGE black Labrador in the bar area, that no one seemed to care about. The dog is clearly one of the "regulars" as no one even blinked as this dog hugged his owner and placed his chin on THE BAR! The dog then walked around the bar area looking for scraps under several tables where patrons were eating and drinking. When we asked our server, Mariah, who the dog belonged to, she pointed to the gentleman at the bar and gave us a blank stare as if to say "How dare you ask". We attempted to enjoy our drinks and food, but even that was not of the quality that I am used to from my past experiences. The pimento cheese was so hard it could not be spread on to the crackers, the onion straws that accompanied the sliders were burnt, and the steak on the philly spring rolls was a little overcooked. Someone in our party also had red wine spilled on her phone as our server reached over her to pour wine into her glass. As we were conversing and some were still eating/drinking we were next interrupted by Mariah, to ask how we wanted our checks. It was clear that we were being pushed out and not really welcomed to stay. I would have ordered more drinks, but the dog and her attitude were enough for me to never come to this establishment again. After we were given our checks, there seemed to be 2-3 people suddenly appear to clear the table and bag the food that some ladies wanted to take with them. It was quite interesting to me since those same ladies, asked for boxes several minutes prior with no results. Our party began to disperse one by one, and the remainder of the group decided to chat for a little while longer. I think the young man filled my water 3 times in 20 minutes and that was the most attention our table had seen during the entire encounter. I know I have a choice as to where I spend my money and I choose to not return to the Chophouse. It's unfortunate, but seeing that dog roam freely was enough to completely gross me out and never...
Read moreWhen we walked in we were asked if we had a reservation, the hostess was rude and not pleasant. I immediately said outside was fine if reservations weren't necessary there, honestly it didn't seem packed enough for us to be required to have a reservation, several open tables in plain sight as many reviewers have noted. The best thing that we ordered was the calamari and the bar drink, which is not saying a whole lot because our calamari looked anorexic and overcooked. The wait times were terribly slow; we were there for a total of 2 hours and ordered pretty much immediately, good food only takes this long to make if you're incompetent and honestly the food is terrible so that can't be their excuse. The oysters were very small and chopped up by the shucker with shell bits all in them not to mention over priced (same oysters at other raw bars in the area), it did come out quicker that all the other food though. The filet mignon wasn't anything special, in fact is was sad, (we've had better at other restaurants) though it was cooked perfectly it had a sauce on it that was unpleasant like A1 and zero seasoning other than the sauce. The hamburger was burnt to a crisp and inedible, completely inedible which we brought to the attention of our server that did not seem to care. The fried green tomatoes were cut so thick and whatever was on it did not meld; just really boring and not good, the mac and cheese was crunchy and burnt also; sides are extra charges and not priced for their quality or quantity. The chocolate cake wasn't anything special either, it was decent but I've had better at the plaid turnip, which is a wonderful local Suffolk restaurant. This place is so over priced and slow we actually wondered why they seemed like the elite place to be. I have never spent so much money and felt so disappointed with my meal than I did here. Many other reviewers suggest to check the bill...We will probably not return as there are way better places to dine in the area. I changed my review to one star because going through the reviews I noticed the majority if people say the food is not good and there are better places, exactly what I said, but they still gave 3 stars which is strange. I'm not sure why this place has 4 stars except that being the case. Honestly if you like paying for overpriced mediocre food that comes out incredibly slow from a restaurant with class discrimination then this is your place. Oh and someone suggested that management and the owners look at these reviews, they haven't because since they opened the same reviews about poor quality food and service have existed since the beginning. Get with the program people they are only in business because you allow them to take...
