Second time visiting this establishment. The first time was for pizza. It was overbaked and had very little toppings and tasteless sauce. A frozen pizza like DiGorno tastes much better. We decided to give them another try, plus not many restaurants are open later in Sullivan, Indiana. So, this time, we decided not to waste time on pizza and try the spaghetti bucket instead. Not only did the young lady who answered the phone lie to me when I asked if the prices on the online menu were the same prices that day, and she said yes. In fact, we ended up paying almost $8 more than we thought. The spaghetti bucket came with a bucket of spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread (couldn't taste much garlic, and the salad had more chewy cheese than lettuce), enough to feed 4. I thought surely they couldn't mess up spaghetti. Well, let me tell you, it smelled good, but when I took my first bite, I thought I would go into a sugar coma! It tasted so sickening, sweet, as if someone poured a whole bag of sugar on it. A little sugar is ok because it neutralizes the acid in the tomato sauce, but we couldn't eat this at all. We had also ordered meatballs, and thank goodness we did because we ended up eating meatball sandwiches on the somewhat garlicky garlic bread. We were very disappointed, but didn't call and complain. We just decided we won't patron that establishment again. We'd rather order pizza from Casey's or Dominoes or drive the distance to...
Read moreI doubt we will return. While the food is good, it's not worth what they are charging for pizza, bosco stix and a drink. I agree exactly with Isaac who stated above that their menu prices are very deceptive indeed! And just like he said, every item is nearly $2 higher than what the menu says it is. If this is the case and they won't spend the money to change the menus to reflect the price increase, they need to at least be HONEST and have their wait staff tell people in advance that their prices have increased, and let the customer decide before they order if they want to continue or not. I doubt we will ever go back because we work very hard for our money and want to know in advance what prices we are paying. On top of that, the waitress said "Just pay up front" she would not even give us a bill to review at the table. When my son went to the front to ask for a paper bill, she said, "Your total is $66." and still would not give us a bill to review before we went up front to pay. I think they were trying to avoid letting us see the large difference in cost and wanted to catch us off guard. So I went to the register and demanded a paper bill to take back...
Read moreHitting up more Pizza places took me to Backstreet Pizza. The atmosphere here is fantastic. The garage feel, the cars, connecting rod art, custom pinstriped pieces, magazine articles on the floor, "Assembly Manual" menus. Well done! The waitress was very friendly. The garlic knots for an appetizer were good. Nice amount of garlicky flavor. Bread had good snap and chewiness. The pizza ordered by my party was the "Gangbuster" which has sausage, bacon, ham, Canadian bacon, pepperoni and Italian sausage. With this many toppings I'm shocked it didn't impress me more. The dough has fantastic snap when it first came out, however the second slice has lost its crunch. Nothing in the way of the dough or sauce stood out, however to be fair it had so many toppings. I found it to be just okay. It was also quite greasy as seen on cardboard after Pizza was consumed. Again, lots of toppings would be greasy. I am going to come back and get just a cheese to try, and I will update this review at that time. All in all the garlic bread was good, Pizza ok to me, atmosphere was excellent. Plenty of parking....
