We stopped for takeout one evening right around 5:00pm. It was September so things were slowing down. There are no prices on the menu displayed outside but they have paper menus with prices if you ask for one. We ordered the two for $20 lobsters rolls, and the seafood chowder. It took about 15 minutes to get our food. The lobster rolls were not overly stuffed but they had a decent amount of chunky lobster with a light mayonnaise dressing. They were served on a buttered, toasted roll. There were some random shells we found while eating. In the end, the rolls were satisfying enough. The seafood chowder cost $15. It was mostly white fish (I presume haddock) and these tiny, tiny, tiny shrimp. There was a ½ piece of scallop. There were no clams – which is odd to me. Also, no vegetables – which is ok – just seafood. The broth was a light cream sauce so it was not thick. The chowder was overly salty to me but I added some sherry at home which lightened it up. Tracey’s has lots of different types of fried seafood. And lots of ice cream, hard and soft. There are outdoor picnic tables and a small room inside with maybe 10 tables. They will serve you indoors but not out. The restaurant is right on route 1 so it’s pretty noisy.

First - The food was great. The lobster rolls had more meat than any other place I have had the last few days and wasn’t bread heavy. My wife got chicken tenders and they weren’t fried with the seafood, so they didn’t have a “fishy taste” like other places sometimes do. Tried some clams and haddock too and both were fried to the perfect consistency. I didn’t get a photo when the food came, but after I already crushed the onion rings and the other sandwich. Last - It was a long wait because they are understaffed. They told us an hour, but it was 1hr45min for take out from the window. They were apologetic for the delay and we just hung out and made friends with others waiting. We were there late at closing time and the place was packed while we waited. Overall - It’s a great place with great food that is some of the cheapest around. Just call ahead for wait times.

Tracey’s Seafood take-out or eat-in located in Sullivan, Maine, is definitely a little restaurant to keep your eyes on if you like lobster rolls. The price of the rolls range anywhere from 2 for $12 up to 2 for $18 depending on the time of the year—and once when passing through we found them 2 for $10. The lobster rolls are generously packed with fresh tail and claw meat, the bun is lightly toasted. If you happen to be traveling through Sullivan and you want some Maine lobster, I recommend you stop at this Maine eatery as it is the least expensive I have found around for lobster rolls. -Virginia Wright 2717 US-1 Sullivan, ME 04664 Sunday 11AM–8PM Monday 11AM–8PM Tuesday 11AM–8PM Wednesday 11AM–8PM Thursday 11AM–8PM Friday 11AM–8PM Saturday 11AM–8PM

CAVEAT EMPTOR!

TLDR: WAITED OVER AN HOUR, THEY LOST OUR ORDER, RUDELY HANDED ME CASH BACK WITH ZERO APOLOGY!

My wife and I drove by and wanted to stop because we saw the price, 2 for $20 on lobster rolls. Who wouldn't want to stop?! So we stopped in on our way back from Schoodic.

We ordered at the front counter, and the young girl graciously answered all of my questions, and I placed my order for my wife, and my less than one year old.

Twenty minutes went by, and we thought that they ran out of pre-cooked lobster so they were probably doing a large batch for the late (dinner) service and that we would be getting the freshest lobster.

At 30 minutes I looked over and saw another young couple (about our age) also waiting, they had ordered like 10 minutes after us. However, I knew that cracking lobster takes time, and good food is worth the wait.

At 40 minutes, I decided that I should go up and wait in front of the counter, perhaps they had forgotten about me, or seeing my presence passively would at least get their attention, and alert them that they had forgotten my order.

The couple next to me then went up to the window when they saw my presence, asked another woman how long it would be (having waited nearly 30 minutes themselves). The woman replied, "They are back there doing the best they can, and if I go back there and ask them any questions it will slow them down."

So we decided to wait patiently and siliently. Why not?! Good things are worth the wait. Well another 10-15 minutes passed, the other dude was visibly upset when someone else came after we had waited 40 MINUTES, and got their food in 10 minutes.

He walked up to the counter, asked for his money back and got it immediately. Apparently, the kitchen ran out of tickets in their POS machine and so they weren't getting orders.

NO ONE CLAIMED any responsibility. NO ONE apologized.

When I walked up there to ask them, "What is going on with my order?" She grabbed my ticket and then just gave me back my money, firmly placing it down on the counter, because she was upset.

Not sure what happened. NO ONE...

If I could give Negative stars I would. I called in my order for corn chowder. I asked the price and they told me $12. I then asked if they were sure that was right it sounded expensive she assured me that it was. I picked up my order for 3 corn chowders and came home. A few hours later I took a sip and quickly realized it was clam chowder and I am severely allergic to any seafood. I ended up having a reaction and had to use my epi pen and Benadryl to get it under control by then it was too late to call. I called the next day when they were open and the lady I spoke to was very nice apologized and told me they would give me a refund and I told her I would be there the next day to get it. I went in today for my refund and was told I had to have the receipt which I was never given they didn't even have a drink tray to put the cups of chowder in. I told her I didn't have the receipt but I could get a copy of it from my bank since I paid for it with my debit card. She then informed me that I wasn't getting a refund irregardless of whether I had the receipt. I asked for the contact info for the owner. I went to speak with the owner and got yelled at and they were extremely rude and asked why I ate it. I tried explaining to them I hadn't eaten it I had only drank some of the juice and I was told that he would refund 1 because that's the one I ate. I didn't eat any of them or I would be dead. I even offered to go back home and bring it back to them but all they wanted to do was tell at me and treat me like I was just trying to get free...

As someone who loves a classic, no-frills seafood experience, Tracey's Seafood in Sullivan, Maine, is a must-visit. This isn't a fancy, white-tablecloth kind of place—it's the real deal: a beloved roadside seafood shack that delivers on everything that matters.

The main event here is the lobster roll, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. The lobster meat is incredibly fresh, tender, and piled high on a perfectly toasted bun. A tip from a local: get the warm, buttered version. It's pure perfection. The portions are generous, especially considering the fantastic value, making it one of the best deals for a lobster roll you'll find anywhere.

Beyond the lobster, their fried seafood is equally impressive. The whole belly clams and scallops are cooked with a light, flavorful batter that is fried to a perfect golden crisp, never greasy. You can tell they use quality, fresh-from-the-ocean ingredients. While the clam chowder can be a bit hit-or-miss depending on the day, the fried seafood alone is worth the stop.

The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a roadside spot in Maine: casual and bustling, with the option to grab your food to go or enjoy it at one of the picnic tables. The service is friendly, and you get the sense that this is a family-run establishment that takes pride in its work.

If you're looking for an authentic, delicious, and affordable taste of Maine's coastal cuisine, you can’t go wrong with Tracey's Seafood. It's an honest-to-goodness classic that captures the spirit of the...
