Party of 6 arrived at 6pm as they opened last Saturday evening and found a cozy seating area outside with Bill tending a firepit that would serve us well a few hours later before we headed home a little before 11pm. This is a different kind of place. Let me explain...
The two couples my wife and I were with are dear friends who we're rarely able sneak away with to fellowship without a gaggle of kids in tow or sitting in the bleachers watching one of their sporting events. This past evening really was a retreat hosted by Deb and Bill from start to finish.
When we arrived the wives went inside while the husbands stood around the fire catching up a little before dinner. Bill took our cocktail order and brought out two premium bourbons and one of the best old fashions I've tasted in quite a while. Inside Deb offered the wives a nice red wine that I never caught the name of but my wife enjoyed.
As we came in and gathered around the table Deb came to explain the menu and gave us the rundown on this supper club. It's a much welcomed but different experience than a Ruth's Chris or the River Grille. First let me qualify that different does not mean less than. The ribeye was as good if not better than those other places I mentioned but the atmosphere is special. It feels more welcoming and a little less stuffy feeling for lack of a better term. It really does feel like home as other reviewers have shared.
The food was terrific. We started with the Beale Street Cluckers which were bacon wrapped chicken medallions dusted with dry Memphis style rub. Then Deb brought out soup and salad courses before the main entrees. The ribeye was amazing but so were the other choices. My wife's Raspberry Pork Tenderloin was wonderful and the Steak au Pauve and Whitefish were great as well. For sides the bacon wrapped asparagus and twice baked garlic potatoes were a hit. Later Deb brought out a special dessert course but I dont want to spoil the surprise for you so I'll keep the details to myself.
After dinner we retired to the firepit outside to share stories and drinks together. Bill got the wives to try a special sipping whiskey. My wife doesn't have a pallet for bourbon or whiskey but this was very unique and they all ordered one on the rocks. As we sat around the fire previous customers stopped by this small establishment and were greeted by name. They brought out a nightcap of what I only know as the "wives whiskey" to the fire and introduced themselves to the group and joined in the conversation. When you slow down enough to talk it's amazing how much we all have in common. As the fire slowed we went back in to pay our check and say our goodbyes. Deb is a bit of a hugger but by this time it felt like an appropriate way to say good night.
We were there for almost 5 hours and it felt like a few minutes because the hospitality and atmosphere Deb and Bill have created in this little creekside oasis. Thank you for a memorable evening.
For an amazing four course meal, three rounds of cocktails and memories that will linger for a lifetime this is an amazing value. We will...
Read moreI planned a mini vacation for Father's Day 2012 in the NW Arkansas area and took a chance on finding a great restaurant in the area. The reviews for Cellar Creekside were all positive, but to be honest they don't do this restaurant justice - and I don't think anything I write either can adequately express how great this place is.
We were a family of 5 plus a baby, and they took a chance on accepting us since this restaurant is intimate fine dining. All of us ordered something different, and everything coming out of the kitchen was a customized and perfect work of a talented chef. My wife even tried the daily surprise dish offered by the chef, and even though it consisted mostly of foods she avoids, she LOVED it (and so did everyone at the table). All of us tried every dish, ordered different desserts and drinks, and we've never tasted food this good (I've been to many fine dining restaurants).
Not only is the food top-notch, but the owners are PERSONABLE and GENEROUS. They brought out free drinks just to try them, and gave us chocolate-covered strawberries while waiting for dessert, and more. They looked for ways to go way beyond our expectations and delivered expertly. Not only is Cellar Creekside a great restaurant, but it is a great business that renewed my appreciation of what a small group of passionate and talented people can do to elevate people's awareness of how good life really can be. Anyone interested in experiencing what fine dining was originally conceived to be should take the long drive over here JUST to dine at this restaurant. I will definitely come back here as soon as I have the time and money, and I would bring my most honored guests all the way out to this establishment. You won't be disappointed for spending an evening here (it is a 3- to 4-hour commitment, not an eat-and-leave experience).
Contact me if you want to ask questions about my experience at Cellar Creekside - I have much more to share. I am not associated with this business other than being an extremely...
Read moreShout out to Cellar Creekside in Sulpher Springs for an incredible dining experience. Who knew there is truly fine dining in SS?? It is a hidden gem in NWA that more should experience. Deb and Bill, the owners, are creating truly great food but more importantly, a completely wonderful experience. They are only open on Saturday evening and require reservations.
My lady and I arrived about six, were greeted by name by Deb, then had leisurely cocktails outside on the patio (with fire pit) while making new friends with a couple from Rogers. Afterword we went into the recently completely remodeled dining room for dinner. The dining areas are small seating perhaps 25 people. Over an hour or so, We were served a small bowl of soup, a nice salad, our entrees - My lady had steak au poivre and I went with the chef’s selection which turned out to be grilled pork cutlets over bow tie pasta with a complex red sauce. Both were great. Others there had steaks that looked fantastic. Later Deb brought out hand dipped strawberries, a small chocolate cordial drink and a rose for each lady. For all this, the prices were $25-30 each plus drinks. I was floored expecting higher. After personal thanks from the owners, we left around 9 pm. It was a great time.
It’s ideal for wedding anniversaries, birthdays or special occasions but at the prices and the overall experience you have, it will be a regular spot for me. I know this review sounds like an advertisement, but we had such a great time, I wanted to let others know what we have...
