I have ate at this restaurant for years. Some of the best fried chicken you will ever eat. Great daily specials. We ate here Memorial Day. We had never ate BBQ chicken here and it was on their special so we tried it. We weren't a big fan, if you like BBQ with a string vinegar flavor you will love their bbq chicken. The Lima beans were awesome, my rice and gravy was good We were there around 2pm it was crowded and being a small restaurant it was pretty loud, but the crowd left and it was pretty peaceful. We weren't crazy about the dessert that came with the special pineapple pudding, it was warm and tasted more like coconut than pineapple. But, over all you can't beat getting an entree, two sides, bread, dessert and tea for $11 plus tax. Can't go eat a fast food burger for that price! Wish I would have ordered fried chicken though, it's the BEST! We seen someone order the batter fried onion rings, they looked and smelled so good. We definitely will have those...
Read moreFirst time visiting this place on our way to visit my wife's dad in the local assisted living home. We were told this was the place where you go for good down home southern cooking. My wife knows the area from growing up nearby and said before I-95 was built this was the go-to place. Okay, I've heard those kinds of things before. Well, she was right.
First off, I have to say this may be the friendliest staff I've ever met. Not sure if they are related but they sure knew every customer and treated everyone like family. Second, the choices on the menu were terrific and they had a Saturday special of Fried Pork Chop. That is one of my wife's dad's favorite things. We ordered that and the two sides, which also came with a choice of dessert. Not only did the food smell great, it was so quick to come out I thought it must have been for another table.
Definitely will be back to try some of the other dishes, like the fried chicken. It...
Read moreThis little out of the way diner was a great pit stop for our road trip. The staff was absolutely pleasant. Being on a road trip as a vegetarian is a little challenging to find good food for me. The Summerton Diner offered a 3 piece vegetable platter that had me wanting seconds of everything. The broccoli and cheese casserole was Soo delicious! The Mac and cheese was crispy on top and creamy on the inside. I was thrilled with every bite. My husband got the turkey club and admitted it was beat thing he's eaten the whole road trip (over 1200 miles up to that point) Ohh and I almost forgot to mention the sweet tea! The sweet tea was served perfectly cold with crushed ice and it made my day when the server brought us 2 cups to go at the end of our meal. I will definitely try to find my way back here to try more of their dishes in the future. If you're on the fence take my word for it. This place is...
