My recent visit to this restaurant in our neighborhood was NOT what we expected! I do want to say the customer service is very good 10 out of 10! Food... NO! I am extremely disappointed in the bland taste of what is called "southern cuisine." First off, the menu is very bland, dull, and not a wide selection of dishes to choose from. My neighbors hyped this mess up and it is extremely overrated! Main condiments that ALL restaurants should have are Ranch and Honey Mustard, they do not have. That was red flag number 1. Secondly, red flag #2 the "bar" was not fully stocked. Now how the helly a restaurant with a bar is not fully stocked??? IDK! As far as our dishes, we ordered the Southern Fried Catfish with 2 sides of Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens (dish came with 2 hush puppies), and an order of fries. My fish was over cooked on both ends ( had to send back) and was wet in the inside when I cut into it to attempt to eat. I was extremely upset at this point. The hush puppies taste like nothing, no taste, bland, no seasoning, and just tasted like a bland donut ball. ( I AM GETTING PISSED WRITING THIS REVIEW BECUSE I WASTED MONEY AND WAS NOT PLEASE AT ALL). The Mac and cheese was not it at all. It was NOT seasoned, however the creaminess was there. The Mac and Cheese has potential. The collard greens was a 0 out of 10. You have to use seasonings!! I am not sure what kind of smoked meat was used, however that was not of "southern cuisine." The greens had absolutely no taste. I am not sure if this restaurant has heard of seasonings such as garlic powder, onion powder, Slap Yo Momma, Pepper (lemon pepper, lime pepper, mango pepper, shit regular black pepper) and etc (NO SALT BECAUSE SOME SEASONINGS CONTAIN SALT). The only thing that was good was the fries, ketchup, and water. The sweet tea was NOT sweet and it was watered down. This restaurant does have potential to be big, however you have to use seasonings to bring out the best of your dishes. I wasted my money and time and this restaurant and I'm still highly pissed off, due to the fact we had to go to Dog and Duck to have our family dinner. If this restaurant needs assistance in the kitchen. please contact me, because I would love to help. I hope if we do decide to come back, changes will be made to the menu and food will be seasoned. I did not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām highly disappointed in my neighbors for hyping this restaurant up. Iāll start by saying our waiter and the service was awesome and fast, and the space itself is very nice.
We started with the pork skins, hush puppies and my wife got the she crab soup. The $7 pork skins tasted exactly like the ones from the gas station. The hush puppies did not taste like hush puppies at all, but more like deep fried donuts. The she crab soup came out cold, although the taste was great, and we asked our waiter to reheat it to which he kindly took care of it.
For entrees we got the Brisket Frites, Pulled Pork Sandwich, BBQ shrimp and Grits, and Backyard Burger. I personally got the Brisket which was cooked near perfectly, but had no seasoning (it comes with chimichurri, but there wasnāt enough considering the portion size of the brisket). We were also confused by the Shrimp and Grits coming out deconstructed as Shrimp with a fried grits cake on top of what looked like a marinara sauce (seriously wtf???) Although it was advertised as āBBQ shrimp and gritsā, where was the bbq aspect?⦠On top of all of these complaints, there was some aspect of everybodyās food that came out room temp or cold. This restaurant has a LOT of room to grow in terms the actual food they serve. I think they have something good going for them but please work on the menu and the quality of the food. I would rather wait an hour to get a fresh, flavorful well seasoned meal than 20 minutes to get room temp/cold, unseasoned whatever you want to call that⦠Iām trying to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were a party of 4 adults for a first time visit. 3 of us had cocktails which were good. We tried the deviled eggs and I would not recommend. We did not understand why they would be served with gravy so we asked them to hold the gravy. All four of us did not like the texture or taste of the deviled eggs. The main menu is heavily BBQ which 2 of us had just had the evening prior and at lunch so we did not want BBQ. I ordered two small plates - Che Crab Soup (ok) and smoked salmon on toast (ok -did not taste very smokey). My husband had a hamburger which he liked. The other two had BBQ - baby back ribs and chicken ant they thought the BBQ was very good. The enjoyed the collard greens but not the other sides they had. Both couples shared the blueberry cobbler. The combination of the peach ice cream and butterscotch really did taste good; however, the cobbler texture was so hard we could not use the spoon to cut into all of it. Not sure if we just got the corner piece or that is the way all the pieces were. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was as expected. I wanted to really like this place because of the location and we do not have other restaurants close by. We will try it again due to its convenient location; however, I am not sure I would if it was not...
