Edit 6/4/2025: Not surprised to see that your responses to fewer than 5 star reviews hasn't changed. You can't seem to take a negative comment in any form.
Edit 10/30/2023: As expected, the owner again has lied. Those drinks were paid for. We used all 29 of our City Tin coasters this year. 28 of 29 were excellent, and then there was this place. You need to recheck that camera footage or add more cameras. Looking back at every 1 or 2 star review in the past year, it looks like you just can't take a "bad" review.
Edit 11/1/2023: I reported the incident to the CityTin program. They dealt with this in a professional manner and will take it into consideration moving forward. Based on the experience that night it sounds like you want to be part of the program, but based on my experience and at least 1 other review on here, it seems like you don't treat customers that use it like you treat others. Does your camera footage include your bartender drinking 3 shots with customers in less than an hour?
Initial review: Let's try this again. My previous review was berated by the owner and I removed it becaused they tried to publicly defame me by lying.
We were here about 3 weeks ago. They attempted to charge us twice for the beers we purchased - initially (which we paid with cash) and then after the meal as part of our check. The bartender had at least 3 shots with the customers next to us. So much for responsible bartending? The fries were half burnt, the sandwiches were average. They also tried to treat them to an extra $5 tip that had to be disputed with our bank to get the money returned. These are the facts, regardless of what the owner tries to state on here.
We only went because of the CityTin program. We have used all but 1 of our coasters (plan to use the final one tomorrow) and all of the other businesses were excellent. This one, not so much.
To the owner: I now have more reviews on Google, take a look for yourself. There are many fine establishments in the area and I have publicly praised them with the correct number of stars...
Read moreI spend time out of town during winter months. I returned excited to see the completion of the face lift at Stolley’s. More so recognized as Hog Alley. I love the look, however the new image has lost the personal appeal sitting at the bar. I typically go by myself and look forward to visiting with the bartender (Kris) whom I absolutely love, and the conversation with other patrons. Unfortunately the bar itself is far less intimate to communicate with others and moreover the bartender is far more busy with server orders loosing once again the intimate/personable experience. Not to mention $6.00 for a bottle of beer is ridiculous, food prices are also crazy, neither are consistent with others in the same market, unless the new management (I assume) is considering Milwaukee to be in their market. A sandwich and a few beers shouldn’t cost $30.00 + not to mention one has to give a tip for exceptional service from Kris. A $50.00 single lunch visit is outrageous. This used to be an exceptional neighborhood bar as well as a destination establishment. They have chased me out the door with the different service model and prices. I’m sorry but I’m talking with my feet and will not return. I’m prepared for a snarky reply from the new management, as I’ve read recent responses that take no accountability, or a truly professional response. I bid you the best of luck, however I miss the local...
Read moreI’m annoyed enough that I’m writing this review before leaving the restaurant.
Came here for breakfast and the staff was accommodating. The restaurant is new and clean, which is a bonus.
Party of 7 was able to get in right away which is great!
The food:
Country skillet was pretty good, flavor was about what to expect from most restaurants in the area but it was a small portion for a $14 price tag.
Eggs Benedict were cooked under after asking to go at least over medium (wife is pregnant). Though the sauce was good. $15 … is probably too much.
This is the annoying part - there’s no kids menu so naturally we planned to share their meals. We did not ask for separate plates but did receive them. We were not asked if we wanted to split nor informed of any sort of surcharge that would apply because why would it when you don’t have a kids menu?
To my surprise I received a bill with a $3.95/meal split charge - not even itemized out, mind you. I had to solve this riddle myself.
So we got each child one pancake and one slice of bacon for the rather outrageous price of $8.95 each.
I’m in no way expecting special treatment but to not advertise a split charge (usually reserved for higher end restaurants) and then not discuss it and still charge it is out and out gouging.
Decent service - decent food -...
