One extreme to the next.
---Wait time--- 30-40min on Sunday Morning before Church.
---Service--- Our server was good, took our drinks almost immediately, gave us about 5min until we ordered. Checked in every 5-10min and didn't seem to mind being at work despite mentioning they're short staffed.
---Food--- Big issues.
Cold brews: -Mocha: decent basic Mocha. -Oat cookie: we really couldn't taste much apart from the sugar and cream, we had to combine with my mocha to be able to stand the sweetness.
Cinnamon swirl french toast: bland as heck, bread slightly thicker but no bigger than a piece of white bread. -Little to no cinnamon flavor.
Southern staples: -2 eggs ordered over medium: I received fried hard eggs to the point there was barely no moisture left in the yolk on one and a slight paste texture in the other. No running yolk whatsoever. -Potatoes: Cold, seasoned well roasted potatoes. -Biscuit with sausage gravy: the biscuit tasted stale and extremely dry in the center, like a piece of bread with a saltine center that just drys your mouth out. Sausage gravy was watery and flavorless from a powder. -Sausage: tasted like jimmy dean and about the size of a jimmy dean patty. No sear or char just warmed up.
Chicken fried steak benedict: Potatoes: same as above. -English muffin: the same as above, so dry it was crumbly in the middle like bread if you leave it in the fridge for 2 weeks. -Chicken fried steak: looked like a reheated frozen patty. -H sauce: fine, basic sauce. -Eggs*: looked like someone took boiled eggs and flattened them a little. Completely overcooked and dried out. They didn't even look poached. These were sent back, and I'm not sure if the cook was being a smart @ss or not but they sent back out 2 completely under cooked poached eggs (pictured: see the bowl), they were quite literally separating as we tried to pour them out of the bowl. I also sent these back, 3rd attempt resulted in a correctly poached egg.
By the time the 3rd set of eggs came out, everything that wasn't already served cold was stone cold. Ended up getting a to-go box and the waitress was pro-active and took the benedict off before I even got a chance ask. Not a single bite of the benedict was taken at the location during the 45min we were there. Bravo to Grace.
---Price--- $9 for 2 pieces of cinnamon swirl french toast $11 for 2 eggs, potatoes, a biscuit and gravy with 2 sausage patties. $8 for 2 cold brew coffees. About $30 once the benedict was taken off, way more than I'd ever pay again for the food.
---Closing--- The last time I'd been here was the old location, and it was very good. Not sure what's changed.
I do 95% of my own scratch cooking, and was trying to take a break on a nice morning. An unfortunate mistake. The decor was nice though.

Read moreMy husband and I found this place after a quick internet search for local breakfast places.
We weren’t sure what to expect since this is a chain restaurant, but ended up being pleasantly surprised.
When we entered I noticed that the interior was clean, bright and cheerful. We were greeted and told that we could seat ourselves anywhere amongst the booths, tables or at the counter. I found the counter to be a nice feature for those who don’t like the awkwardness of sitting alone at a table.
Since it was fairly busy (we went around 9:30 AM) we found an open table and were given menus almost immediately. Our waitress, Khristy, got our drink orders shortly thereafter. She was very courteous, cheerful and provided excellent service.
I ordered coffee which came with little creamers that were inside a chilled “Eggs Up Grill” mug. A selection of sugar and sugar substitutes were already present at the table.
For my food, I chose to order the Red, White and Blue waffles. The presentation of the waffle was fantastic. It came sprinkled with powdered sugar, fresh strawberries (not the gross thawed out frozen/processed kind), sliced bananas, blueberries, whipped cream and a little American flag. Not only was the presentation cute, but the food actually tasted delicious. The waffle was crispy and the fruit was fresh.
My husband got the made-to-order omelette. The ingredient selection was quite vast and everything was fresh. For sides he ordered home fries and toast, which the kitchen pre-buttered. Different jams and jellies were also provided.
While we waited for our food, I noticed a gloved staff member who was standing at the sink polishing silverware. I found this surprising, because most restaurants I go to, I usually have to polish off the silverware and make sure no food residue still remains on it. It was a nice sight to see that “Eggs Up Grill” paid attention to small details like this.
Another thing that caught my attention was that the wait staff uses electronic tablets to take orders. I haven’t seen any other restaurants in Sumter do this. I believe this is a good move on the company’s part and they will end up drawing in a younger crowd by showing initiative to incorporate technology.
To top it all off, “Eggs Up Grill” gives military discounts. I love places that support our troops.
Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely return. I would recommend bringing a light jacket or sweater, because it was a bit...
Read morefter 8 months, We came back after several co-workers said they had eaten there recently, and had outstanding meals. My wife and I went by and ordered our breakfast. I had the steak and eggs, and it was perfect. My wifes meals was also perfect. The service was top notch. The atmosphere was exactly what you would want for your calm breakfast meal. I mentioned to our waitress the previous experience (described below) and how nice it was this time. She got the owner, who was eager to hear the problems we had 8 months ago, and happy to hear that we felt this restaraunt is without a doubt, the 'Best breakfast in Sumter.' they have three awards on the wall for exactly that, 'Voted best breakfast in Sumter, three years running' I told the owner I was going to delete the review below and write a new one, and he requested I leave it in place so people can see that they also have bad days, and try to improve. I feel my first exepreince was just an unusual day for them. I recommend going to Eggs Up Grill and ordering your meail from them. We'll be frequent eaters their now. No so great. The hostess and a server were overly loud an happy. Giggling and talking loud several times. Quite odd behaviour. They didn't have any grits, the coffee looked weak, and was very weak. My wifes pancakes came out so cold they wouldn't melt the butter. My Steak and Eggs were perfect. The Potatoes were great! We won't be going back anytime soon. It was not up to the standard of the one in North Myrtle Beach by far. (Who runs out of grits at 10:30 am...
