Roots Coffeehouse — Restaurant in Sun Prairie

Yay! I’m cheering these guys on. This is a new coffee shop in Sun Prairie with very motivated and cheery owners. It’s a huge, clean, and open space. It’s very obvious to me how much love and effort they have put into launching this business. As someone who has spent her fair share supporting big box coffee like Starbucks in Duncan, I’ve been trying to make a more concerted effort to support local coffee shops in this community.

For people with young families, I think this is likely a much more friendly alternative than some of the other coffee places around here.. It’s spacious enough to accommodate a stroller and there’s nothing within reach for kids to knock over or grab. They also have really big and clean bathrooms that are very kid friendly. Somebody has thought this through When they were doing the build out.

It’s situated right next-door to Buck and honey’s where they have a huge open outdoor terrace as well.

So for all my fellow Starbucks drinking Costco shopping Sun, Prairie, folks, come and check this place out. There’s more space, it’s owned by extremely friendly people, they have great bakery items, and delicious coffee. They have fast service, and the prices are totally fine. This is my first time ordering here so I'll be back to try other things. I ordered a caramel latte, I prefer not to taste the bitterness of coffee so milk and a sweetener usually does it. In this case, I could taste the burnt beans, maybe it was because I ordered a 12 oz and should have gone with larger? I also ordered the egg sausage and cheese sandwich, I took that home to eat. It comes on a brioche bun which is lovely but I'm not sure if it's because I waited to eat it or it's just a thick sandwich that it felt a little dry. I ordered a cranberry orange scone and a sourdough chocolate chip cookie but will be having those at a later time. I love the ambience here, as it had comfy places to sit, some cute decor, places for children to play and wait as well as plenty of space to sit. They do have a small merch area, so if you're looking for an extra t-shirt or a sweatshirt or maybe some jelly from Colorado they have it there. Free water on tap in the back which is...

This place is fantastic!! What a great addition to the Sun Prairie! Easily the best coffee in town, if not in the greater Madison area. Excellent oat milk cortado.
