J J Gourmet — Restaurant in Sunrise

I'd give this place 5 stars if the review read about the taste of the food. Unfortunately, that level of service takes away from what the food tastes like. I suggest that you have your order phoned in a hour ahead of time.... yes, I did say an hour. Otherwise, you should go there with your own sports chair (since you might not be able to sit down), your own personal fan (since their a.c. is either busted or their trying to conserve energy... at one point or another customer held the door open and I swear that all of a sudden it felt like the AC was finally working. It is hotter on the inside of this restaurant then it is with the sun beating down your neck on the outside), candy crush downloaded to your phone (for the sake of time), and a chewing gum or a cigarette (for the intense wait). If you don't mind waiting 30-45 minutes for your food with the possibility of you being skipped, I suggest you be prepared to take up smoking after dealing with these people. I wish that they get better organized and have customers take a number when they come in. The scene reminds me of a movie scene where they are taking numbers in the back room and everyone being antsy about if their number hit or not..... or better yet, if their order is up. Hopefully, this place will expand and get a business consultant. The food could take them to the next level if they just be more vigilant about the customers. Btw...I got home and my order was wrong from my last visit. U didn't check the food before I left because they tied the bag in this super human strength knot that prevents you from checking how good the food looks or rather just just to deter the food...

My brother in law took me here while visiting Florida and it is not a huge spot. I wish they took pride to making the place a bit more appealing and even play some music while people are waiting. The place was packed and everyone was patiently waiting and then I realized why everyone was patient. The food was slammin! The service is a bit slow because the joint is always busy and they cook to order.Honestly, I don't know a logical time to call and go in and your food would be ready. You just have to be ready for it. We had the tassot turkey which taste just like griot. The sos pwa rouj was to die for. I don't know what they put in it but you can taste a different flavoring. It was so good. The stewed chicken was also good. I'll definitely be back...

I been coming in for years the short woman she the cashier, takes money and bag your food has become rude, she used ro be nice now No eye contact . My husband and I are a mixed couple and sad to say but I believe she is racist and she doesn't like him because of his color. When she talks to me looks down no eye contact and talks down . Can't hear what she is saying . The other day my husband ask JJ the owner a question about the food . He was very rude and nasty said something in Creole he didnt understand. Maybe business is not going well and the staff and JJ is stress . The vibe of the restaurant is not the same like it use to be. My husband and I had enough we won't be...
