After a day of zip lining down the mountain, my family cruises back up the lifts for a lovely experience at Pine Marten Lodge! From the lift ride up to the restaurant to the stunning views, everything was wonderful.
We arrived a bit early to enjoy the view and have a cocktail. The bartenders seemed to be in training and as a bartender myself, I was a bit unimpressed by their drinks. I ordered my favorite drink, which happened to be the first on their cocktail menu: the Corpse Reviver No. 2. I was a bit confused by the drink when I tasted it. Something was missing. When I looked over their menu, they actually excluded one of the key ingredients. Huge mistake if it’s even listed that way on their menu. However, I tried several other drinks such as the Negroni Spritzer, a smokey mezcal drink, and the basil gimlet and was pleased.
When we were seated, we got a table by the window with a breathtaking view of the mountains. Broken Top and some of the sisters towered along the horizon, backed by a beautiful sunset. Our server was attentive and checked on us regularly without making us feel rushed.
The Sunset Dinner was a highlight, with each course being delicious. The standout for us was the entrees – the Salmon was perfectly cooked. And the deserts were lovely. Everything we ate was amazing. We’ll...
Read moreSadly, the lodge has gone downhill over the years and the value just isn't there anymore. The lines were long, the options were limited, and the prices were hostage-on-a-mountain-high. I had my kids with me. We noted things like ceiling tiles stained from roof leaks; general wear and tear; and it seemed like it staffing was pretty slim. This is an example of where I'd let your money do the voting. For as much money as you spend to be on the mountain, this was a significant disappointment. In the future we'll likely pack a lunch (or chose a different mountain altogether - I love Bachelor and have gone for decades, but this isn't the Rockies. And let's be honest, complaining about the price but still paying anyway sends a simple message - there is no incentive for Bachelor to change). I don't blame the staff - they were friendly and trying hard - but I just can't see waiting in line for over half an hour for what we got. I kinda wonder if this was the last meal I'll have on top of the hill... bummer, but perhaps this is what we can expect now that it's part of a publicly traded...
Read moreThe chair lift ride and the view from the restaurant were unbeatable! The food and our server in particular left little to be desired. We had such high hopes. My steak was cold, husband's venison was over cooked and under seasoned. My shrimp were so over seasoned they were almost inedible. Our server was AWFUL. I don't say that lightly. I know sometimes people are going through things and right now times are tough but she was just rude! She made our experience terrible. Disingenuous, forgetful, and she took over our table from a previous server who was phenomenal and was supposed to continue to serve us after we had to...
