Ok, so this is 2 different review ratings. Take into consideration we arrived just after a huge rush (possibly bus) of people. We sat at the end of the bar in front of the glass wash station. Our waitress was pleasant despite. She checked in with us a few times during our meal. The prices are comperable to other similar establishments but I feel the portions here make it one step above. The wings are the huge sized wings if you like those. The curly fries (for the 2nd time) were overcooked and crunchy. They have 1919 root beer on it's own tap! It was fun to just look around at the decor and play "I Spy". The restrooms were pleasant.
Now, the part I hope the owner reads. There was a busboy, whom I feel may be family, "working" there. I surmised this because if I were one of those waitresses, I'd have had some WORDS long ago. I can honestly say this young man is probably costing you way more money than having him there, unless your sole reason is to keep him out of trouble...even so.
He was very obviously working harder at not working than actually doing so. I feel like this is a very common example of our youth as a whole right now. He literally, for our ENTIRE stay (which took double the time as any usual meal does due to the kitchen being so slow) basically shuffled in front of us getting in the way of every waitress trying to do their job. He opened the coolers repeatedly turning labels, looking like he was checking stock, etc. I'm certain the bottles ended up being 4 degrees warmer, especially when he left the doors cracked open.
Waitresses were carrying LOADS of dishes to the back and only occasionally, when he noticed, would he go back to the kitchen only to emerge right back in front of us. He seemed to like washing glasses though. Just one or two he'd slowly concentrate on them spending as much time as possible. Nothing like someone's face constantly inches from your food.
Another time after coming from the back, he switched the big screen from football to car racing, which was also on the smaller TV. People were mildly watching the game. They had to ask a waitress to switch it back.
When we were finished with our meals, we neatly stacked the tray/basket/silverware with the napkins on top, clearly indicating they were ready to be taken, at the edge of the bar, pretty much right under his nose as he washed glasses. Nope, the lightbulb didn't go on. A waitress came and took mine away. My Mom finished hers later and did the same. Still he didn't get a clue.
I could see the frustration on the other's faces. I was exhausted just watching him do absolutely nothing. PLEASE teach this young man manners, consideration, work ethic, and teamwork. If he plans to go into management of any kind, nevermind, carry on. At the very least, find someplace else for him to be and alleviate the frustration for those employees who ARE trying to do their jobs. On the flip side, if I were to give the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he was doing his intended job of monitoring other employees to ensure everything is on the up and up and to report back.
In any case, this seems to be going more into a rant than a review of the establishment. Love Gronk's in general and look forward for an opportunity to stop in when I'm in town....
Read moreMy husband and I came here with a group of locals while we were visiting them. Upon arrival, we were told by our waitress that it would be an hour wait for food and she recommended ordering apps. She said she was going to take another table’s drink order and if we were ‘still there by the time she got back’, she would take our orders. When she came back to take our order for food and drinks, she discouraged one of our friends from ordering the combo platter because it would take the longest to come out, even though he was aware of the wait time. He switched his order. After 10-15 minutes of not having drinks, another member of our party goes to the bar to get pull tabs. He sees our waitress coming inside from smoking. He asked the bartender for our drinks and brought them to our table. Our waitress later comes by, telling us to not be afraid to go to the bar if we can’t find her…indicating that we probably won’t see her for most of the night, which we didn’t. Tables around us that had different servers, came and went far before us, which was extremely frustrating. We were fine with an hour wait for food, but it was nearly 2 hours by the time we got our food. Our friend, who ordered a baked potato, received her food last. By this time, we were the last table left in the restaurant. When we asked for our bill, some of the tickets were wrong. Our waitress asked to take our cards and she would correct it at the POS, but we asked for new bills before she did so. The bartenders did buy us a round of drinks for our troubles, which was nice. The rest of the staff were great. I understand being short staffed, especially working in an industry that has suffered many consequences of the pandemic. However, this was more than being understaffed. Our waitress referenced us being her last table multiple times, and it was pretty apparent that she wanted to leave and was disappointed that we sat down in her section. The restaurant slowly became less busy, and other tables who got there after us got their food before us. The food was great, the bartenders were great, and other servers seemed wonderful. Unfortunately we were unlucky and our service...
Read moreThis establishment came highly recommended. We were swiftly seated and given menus. The range of food was very nice. The restaurant was clean and decorated very well. There is a large array of things for kids to do.The bar was very cool they have a huge selection of tap beers. Service: The service was sub standard. 1 waitress was working on a holiday weekend covering all the tables in the dining room. They are definitely understaffed They informed us the food was going to be atleast 1 hour. It ended up being 2 hours. My food was not made correctly, and our fries were cold. We waited 2 hours to get served cold food. The waitress forgot the little things like our water, extra napkins and silverware. This establishment needs to focus on their staff in order to hold up to their highly recommend image. I ordered a Chicago style Italian beef with motzerella cheese and peppers. My Italian beef came with sport peppers, and grilled onions. Anybody from Chicago knows Italian beef is not served with onions or sport peppers. I waited for almost 2 hours for this sandwich and was very disappointed. My wife ordered a California burger. She was happy with the burger, but her fries were also cold. Everyone else in our party of 8 food was either cold or not cooked accordingly. This establishment needs to hire staff that is capable of handling large groups. They need to order the right ingredients for the sandwiches they are preparing or rename the sandwich. You shouldn't advertise a "Chicago style sandwich or dog" and then not prepare it correctly. Maybe its because I'm from Chicago so I know how these sandwiches are supposed to be prepared. I understand their is a shortage in our work force while this nation is recovering from the pandemic. This is the reason I gave the restaurant 3 stars. I didn't bother taking pictures because I was highly agitated waiting 2 hours for our cold food., I hope that this establishment makes some drastic changes to live up to...
