I don’t really leave reviews so this will be one to read if you truly want an objective opinion on this course. I played on 5/4/2021 T time 10:10 am. I’ve read some of the reviews here and in my opinion they were unfair for a few reasons. If you decide to want to play this course you MUST know what course management means. When to pull driver and when to holster it. Pick your targets wisely. I’ve read quite a few reviews about players ending up in the tall grass and then blaming the course (it wasn’t the courses fault your ball ended up there). The course is brand new, therefore there are somethings to keep in mind. The greens and fairway are very hard, while that might help your yardage on the fairways (provided you hit them) the greens are extremely unforgiving. It’s because the grass needs to settle in and take its natural place on the course it will take at least another year before it can properly hold an approach shot. With that said I got 13 G.I.R today (if you don’t know what GIR means you can stop reading here). But they only held 6 of my approaches so bring your short game with you (your going to need it). The golf course is beautiful and it will become even more of a gem once it’s 100%. To management if you go Private I’ll take an invite. The lay out of the course plays long almost 7300 from the tips then 6800 then I believe 6500. I played black/blue today (about 6800) however with that said ball placement is KEY. Some of the fairways are very welcoming and forgiving and some make you think real hard, that’s where you can lose your game (it only takes one hole to unravel). The Greens (for right now) are not forgiving AT ALL! after the 3rd hole I started to play safer and not flag hunt. My advice for now and the near future if you flag hunt your going to pay a price of rolling off the green.
Now to Management: Staff was amazing, from pro shop, to cart barn, to Starter (who accommodated me as a single and was amazing), to cart girl. 5 stars to the staff. My one complaint and it’s a big one GM so please here me. Because the greens are not as receptive to approach shots from you know us amateurs, weekend warriors and visitors. These PIN placements OMG! This is not the final round at Augusta please please please here me put the pins in places where at least us handicappers have a chance at staying on the green. Hole #2 placement right on top of that false front or should I say cliff (fail). The par 3 over water the flag might as well have been placed in the water (fail) Hole #16 (seriously) it was placed on the very top of the crown impossible to put it in (Fail). The hole that has the trench built into it the pin right behind that (fail). The people I played with said they wouldn’t come back Just on pin placement alone. make these pins more accessible and people will have a better time. I hope someone reads this and takes this suggestion. I’m going to come back hole #2 and I have a rematch lol. You guys will most certainly without a doubt have the best course in the west valley soon once everything settles and takes its place. The $89 bucks to play I can live with, the pin placements with an unforgiving green (which by the way roll at least an 11 on the stint guaranteed) is very frustrating. Remember Sterling, people are going to have a good time at your course and enjoy a nice round with a nice view. Not Qualify for an open or pass Q school. Let’s take it down a notch. You don’t get 5 stars only because of those insane pin placements fix that and people will enjoy coming not leave complaining. Parting Note: if you end up in water or tall grass or trees or bunker that’s a you problem not the course. Of you hit a perfect approach shot and land on green where you know you should putt and find your ball to be 10 yards off the green that’s a STERLING problem. 4 stars great staff great layout, your almost there. I hope this has given everyone a better outlook on Sterling golf and country club. It’s worth the trip...

I had the absolute pleasure of celebrating my birthday at Sterling Grove Golf + Country Club, and the highlight of the evening was without a doubt the incredible experience at Copper + Rye. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. The ambiance was perfect, the food was phenomenal, and the service was beyond anything I expected.
A special shoutout to Fred, the General Manager, who went above and beyond to make the night truly unforgettable. Not only did he personally check in on our table multiple times, but he made sure every detail—from the menu recommendations to a surprise birthday dessert—was taken care of with warmth and class. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality set the tone for the entire evening.
It’s rare to find a place where the setting, service, and food all come together perfectly, but Copper + Rye nailed it. Whether you’re stopping in after a round of golf or looking for an exceptional dining experience, this is the place. Thank you to Fred and the entire team for making my birthday so special—I’ll...
Read moreOk, first off, Sterling Grove is a good golf course. It is definitely one of the more challenging golf courses in the West Valley. The greens are fast year round and the fairways are always...maintained to the best they can be in Arizona. Summer sometimes it's a little dead in some areas.
Dead areas do not bother me because it's Arizona. Every golf course will have them especially during the summer. My only problem with this course is the price. WAY too expensive. During summer hours it's SIXTY DOLLARS. No one wants to pay that. If I want to go play after 3 at a nice course I'm gonna go to Verado and pay half that.
The course is nice, but not memorable. When you play it for the first time no hole really sticks out. There are some beautiful holes don't get me wrong, but there's not THE ONE that everyone remembers. I've played this course dozens of times, it's very fun and challenging. But during prime season, oh my goodness don't even look for tee times the price is higher than the homeless guy on I10 and 59th.
Good golf course, I would even say great, but make your buddy pay for...
