I was apprehensive about venturing into this establishment when first invited. It seemed a bit far from my residence and the roads were narrow and dark but with high beams engaged and enough self assurance I decided to take the plunge. Upon entering the parking lot I was greeted by a few ruffians who immediately pointed to where I should park. They first asked if I was lost but then realized I just needed an ice cold beer and some freshly fried fries. They started to lead me inside, but before I could enter I could feel the bass billowing and off-key karaoke being sung from some long and forgotten tune and I knew I was in the right spot.
Entering this establishment one can envision a different era. One where time has stood still, and I say that in a good manner. The massive American flag is a plus, I’ve actually only ever seen one larger flag and that would be at the Washington monument so that has to be worth something to Ol’ Bill. The walls are covered in small-batch organic pine lumber to give us a rustic atmosphere. Country chic one might say.
The beers are as cold as your mama, when you came back with those barely passing grades on your report card. The wings are as hot as when you brought your dad the Philips head screwdriver when he clearly asked for a flat head. The fine loving memories that you’ll get here are similar to when your grandma would tell you to go ahead and get yourself a cookie from the Royal Dansk Butter Cookie tin, only to find yarn and her well patina’d crochet hooks.
11/10 would risk life and limb to come back. And Mama Bull-moose plays...
Read moreI am a dive bar kind of guy and this is NOT a dive bar but really fits the bill. Bartenders seem to be on point, I have never had to wait more than 60 seconds before they realized I needed another (hate waiting for one when I want one). They have a pool table and a soft tip dart board. Kitchen is open late which is good cause you can't get food in town. I have ordered as late as 11:30 . Pizza is really good, the BLT has lots of bacon. They have a decent menu and non menu specials. The Meat Loaf was fantastic. I am very picky about wings (I do not like BWW wings) so grade them as standard but large. They guys I was with said they were great. Usually not to busy and the people there are easy to get along with (except this one guy when he has had 2 to many, but only seen him in there twice). However Saturdays (been 4 in a row) can get really packed. They had DJ Karaoke (some Moose Lady) and it packed it out pretty good. Lots of younger people on those nights. Overall it is a great...
Read moreAn unexpected hidden treat this place was. We got lucky when the place we had planned to go to was closed. After a quick Google search, we found Hilltop and was very pleased with the food and service. The long drive there was worth it.
The prices beat any fast food joint, even with all the add-ons to this giant burger. My husband ordered a cheese steak and couldn't stop raving about it. The only thing I regret is not taking pictures of this huge burger which I was not able to finish, but happy that I got to enjoy the rest the next day.
I'm happy to have supported this...
