Sweeter Things Ice Cream Shack — Restaurant in Swansboro

My boyfriend and I just left this place due to poor service. When we walked in, we weren’t greeted, instead, a young woman loudly announced they were out of milk for milkshakes. While that was disappointing, we understand that things like that happen and are often out of a business’s control.

What really made us leave was what happened next: we stood at the front of the line for around 10 minutes without any acknowledgment, while the same employee walked past us to chat up a group of young boys at the end of the line. We later overheard her telling them she would be making them milkshakes after all, but to not tell anyone else.

We had driven 20 minutes, passing several other ice cream shops, including Ben & Jerry’s, just to come here, and left feeling ignored and unwelcome. We ended up going somewhere else where we were treated kindly and equally, and the experience was...

I have been in Emerald Isle 3 weeks and have enjoyed all four trips to the ice cream shack! The servers are VERY personal and helpful in the decision making process. We laughed so much with the medical billing lady that only works weekends. We were complimented on our choices by the young adult/teens, and the old geezer was genuinely interested in discussing diplomatic politics/economy when business was slow. It’s a Hershey vendor, but they are sweeter and better than the average. Workers take pride in giving you more than just ice cream…they also deliver happiness!♥️. Must visit! If they have it available you gotta try the strawberry bubble bliss or any of the chocolate extreme milkshakes! Wife fell in love with banana...

This ice cream shop is more than an ice cream shop. They also support a variety of local businesses or artists. That added bonus is the reason I keep coming back. Yes, the ice cream is wonderful, but stopping in to see who is being featured in the spaces is my favorite part. I have found gifts in this shop meant for family across the country. I even found something fun for a new hobby of mine. The staff is wonderful! The father of the owner is a stitch! He always makes our trips in such a joy. Family owned vibes in deed!
