I was pleasantly surprised by all aspects of our dining experience at Green Mountain Bistro. I worked as a server for 15 years in various restaurants across New England and appreciate good service. I’m also a bit of a food snob. I look for high quality ingredients and creative dishes with complex flavor profiles. (Fresh, local products are a bonus!) This place hit all the right notes. Modern, attractive interior with local art; excellent, attentive (but not overbearing) service -thank you Alexis; and delicious, well executed dishes.

Drinks: I appreciate the mocktail options right on page one -my blueberry faux-jito was pretty and not too sweet. My partner’s cucumber gin and tonic was well balanced and fresh. Alexis kept our waters filled. (Thank you! A sign of a good server.)

App: crab cakes were tasty, fresh, had a nice crisp, not too bready with a tangy mango chutney. If I were being SUPER PICKY I’d say the presentation could be a bit tighter but that’s really splitting hairs.

Dinner: grilled peach and burrata salad with salmon was delish. Fresh green leaf and lovely gooey burrata. Greens sufficiently dressed not drenched. Salmon had some nice carmelization and not overdone. My partner’s fries were outstanding and the Nashville Chicken Sandwich had a good kick and nice crunch.

Dessert: flourless chocolate cake was good.

Overall, if you’re looking to please a range of preferences you’ll find it here: great fries and a well executed fried chicken sandwich -smash burgers on the menu too-but also dinner salads that are a far cry from dry iceberg lettuce and hunks of mealy tomatoes.

Nicely done. Thank you for setting up in Swanton. We look forward to trying your biscuits, shrimp and grits, burgers, and really the rest...

We made reservations for 5:30 tonight - the first time we had been here. We heard many great things about the food! We ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich and the bistro burger both with fries and, since it was "taco tuesday" ordered a shrimp taco to share & the special "Tuesday Margarita". The Nashville chicken was excellent, juicy & bigger than the bun - we would order this again. The bistro burger was described as 2 - 3 oz patties with cheese, lettuce, tomato & onions - I'm not sure where the beef went - it barely looked like one burger and was overcooked, so we were very disappointed. Considering the small size of the burger, they were a bit stingy with the fries. The shrimp taco, the fries & the Margaritas were excellent. The staff was very friendly & our server was pleasant...

My partner and I visited on the grand opening night and we were not disappointed! Shoutout to our server/bartender Sierra who gave us amazing service!

We enjoyed some cocktails made by Sierra (my partner said it was the best lemon drop she ever had), and after we were seated we ordered their flash-fried brussel sprouts as an app - 10/10 recommend we couldn’t stop raving about them! Our entrée’s were incredible too, their chef is the real deal!

We really enjoyed the lighting, decor and overall atmosphere too, so much care and love went into making the space beautiful.

Overall we are so excited to have such a high quality restaurant just down the road in our community. We can’t wait to come back and bring our friends and family who...

The place is new and clean. The food was mediocre. The Caeser Salad was dry with almost no dressing at all. The flavor of the Poutine was good enough but could have been hotter and the cheese curds were cool in the center, also the gravy had a sweetness to it that I wasn't fond of ( I'm more of a savory person) that may have been Apple Juice or Apple sauce used to sweeten it, but when we asked what was used we were told "it's proprietary information". Seriously? The service was very friendly but slightly slow and longer than average. The Smash burgers were tasty, but their size was closer to a slider than a real burger. The prices were fair for being in Vermont, which is notoriously business unfriendly.

We are so happy this place opened, the area really needs it! It is in a beautifully renovated building and has a lovely atmosphere. We sat outdoors with our dog for a lunch of the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with fries, and a Caprese panini with Caesar side salad. We also added their unique flight of dipping sauces for the fries. Everything we had was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient and the prices are very reasonable. We hear they have an excellent mixologist behind the bar, and look forward to going back for cocktails and dinner.
