Our visit 11/7/2020
This is not a Covid-19 friendly place. If you’re uncomfortable eating within 6feet of another table or at the bar then don’t stop here.
This place was packed by the time we left, but, this town is super small and the most activity is this place and the gas station.
We walked in and sat right away. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Although she did wear her mask upside down. LOL
We ordered our food and waited about 20-25 min for it to come out. The food comes from two areas in the restaurant which means you won’t be getting your food at the same time.
If one orders fried food and non fried food they’re cooked in separate areas.
One of your party could have ate before you get your food. Not cool but it’s how this place operates.
The attire worn could be borderline inappropriate if you’re offended by logos on shirts. It’s basically a free for all on how they staff dresses.
The tables were clean, the bathroom was clean.
The utensils are cheap and thin. Guess it shouldn’t matter but I like feeling some weight with my fork. Good way to cut costs.
The beverage were in cans, priced at 1.25 each. The are not as cold as one would hope.
The food was good, definitely get the biscuits and gravy! I could quite place my finger on it but there was a twang taste with the BLT I got. Might have been the mayonnaise or the bacon. Not sure but I didn’t finish it.
Stop in and give this place a go. Our bill for 5 people was $40 so make sure youre ready for...
Read moreMe and my family will no longer be dining with sweetser Cafe. I have never felt so unwelcomed in a restaurant. I go in to eat with my youngest son on his second birthday I'm first told that he can't share off my plate because the owner doesn't allow people to share meals. Then I'm told to put on my jacket when it is really warm in there only because I have it tied around my midsection and I'm wearing a sports bra that comes past my rib cage I was not severely exposed it was like wearing a crop top. After being told that I just decided to get our food together and leave. Tabitha the owner of the place was the one who told the server to tell me to put on the jacket and refused to let my son share my food with me. I've been here several times before and I have never had an issue until the owner was there I am severely disappointed. The servers are amazing and the atmosphere is usually chill. But today absolutely ruined the whole place for me. Good luck running a business and being unreasonable and disrespectful towards...
Read moreCame to visit for a week or so and made a couple treks to the local cafe and found it to have good food, surprisingly modern POS equipment, modest pricing. I'd love to give it 5 stars, but in my mind for a "cafe" to get 5 stars it would need a more diverse coffee menu with some italian espresso, some speciality coffees, in that respect it was pretty much coffee, half n half and your choice of sweet n low or sugar, and if I'd have to guess the beans were probably not ground the same day the coffee was brewed. In this regard if it was called "sweetser diner" I'd say they hit a home run, but IMO a cafe should have a complete separate coffee menu and wifi available for guests. I know I'm asking for a lot for small town indiana, and if I could give them 4.9 stars I would, so suffice it to say I love the folks there, but there is room for improvement and growth, so look forward to visiting again on...
