I wanted to see what all the 5 star reviews were about. I personally always dig through the reviews to find the more in-depth, lower rating reviews before deciding to eat somewhere new.

I ate at the same time a rather large Prowler car club was eating here. I was a single person but based on some of the reviews I expected I might wait awhile. I was pleasantly surprised that I had my food or to the table within 8 minutes of ordering and 10 minutes of being sat. There was a party of six that got sat shortly after I did and they hadn't gotten their food the entire time I was there, about 30-40 minutes.

My server was friendly, and attentive enough, although I did run out of tea. It seemed she did the bare minimum of her job and didn't really try to go above and beyond. I didn't ask, because I usually already have brisket on my mind when going to a BBQ place, but she didn't ask to if it was my first time, nor suggest anything. It wasn't bad service but it wasn't great either.

I ordered the smoked brisket, fried okra and the mac and cheese. I noticed a recurring theme in the reviews that brisket was dry, or tough, and this was my experience. As you can see in the picture it was over cooked for what brisket it's supposed to be. There was no smoke ring around it at all. It didn't really have any flavor to it either

The reviews talking about the Texas toast being regular sliced bread were accurate, as you can see in the picture.

The okra was mediocre. I personally prefer my fried okra to have a really crispy texture to the batter and this did not. It tasted unseasoned and almost as if it had been dumped in the frier from the freezer.

The Mac and cheese was alright. It had a decent taste but it also did not taste as if it was fresh made. It's either from a can or a box. That or it gets made in bulk and reheated. Despite that fact it was the best item on the plate. I thought it had a perfect amount of pepper flavor to it. If it was fresh made it would have been fantastic.

Another draw back to this establishment is there limited restroom facilities. The car club had to line up into the dining room next to tables because they only have two single stall restrooms. I've driven by here and saw the parking lot very much packed, there should be more restroom capacity. As a result of the car club lining up by my table I got to hear them discuss the food amongst themselves. Just about everyone I heard talk about the brisket had the same experience I did.

They did however have some positive things to say about some of the items they ordered. Seemed like several of them got the pulled pork sandwich, and I saw the plates with the homemade chips. Several left the chips on the plate but I couldn't tell him that was because of the taste or they're ability to eat anymore food. I could tell they were homemade though and no one I could hear talking about their food mentioned them.

I'll try it again but to be a BBQ place and offer the brisket they did was a disappointment. Same with the toast and the fried okra, albeit I know some who like their fried okra a bit more on the soggy side. It just needed some flavor to it.

It wasn't a poor experience but as a truck driver I've eaten all over the country. I've had every variety of BBQ you can imagine and this was not an experience I would recommend to anyone. The pricing was fair, imo, but the food quality was lackluster. They have a large menu, that includes burgers, sandwiches and steaks, which is confusing for a BBQ joint. It seems more American comfort food with BBQ as an option versus an actual BBQ restaurant and the flavors and food quality reflect that. The servers were all friendly and no one seemed upset to be working but my server in particular seemed only interested in the minimum...

We arrived just ahead of a party of 12, and we were really looking forward to one of their famous baked potatoes. However, immediately after we paid (how do you ask for a tip before the service is even performed??), we were told they were out of baked potatoes (it was 6pm on a Saturday night). My husband and I both opted for home fries instead. When our plates came out the home fries were burnt, hard, and tasted like they had been sitting there for a long time. One of the managers (I can't remember his name, but it is very unusual)came and asked how the food was. I told him how I felt about it and to his credit, he offered a replacement after providing sympathies. I told him we didn't have time to wait for it as we had somewhere to be, and he offered to put our food in to-go boxes. I accepted, and we had our food about 5 minutes later. I did get their frozen piggy margarita and it was AMAZING (I can't remember the name of the drink.

For as expensive as they are, I'm highly disappointed that they ran out of baked potatoes so early on a Saturday night and that the kitchen saw fit to serve outdated food instead of cooking it fresh. I give props to the manager who did everything in his power to make it right. In the end, I wish we would have just asked for a full refund immediately (it was literally as she handed my husband the receipt that we were told they ran out of what we ordered).

If I do go back, I won't be leaving a tip until after we have completed our meal as...

Staff was very nice and good A/C +5 ⭐, food taste and quality -2 ⭐ was not =3⭐. The meat had no flavor and resembled what you get when you cook it in a crock pot and this is including the ribs. The macaroni and cheese was similar to what you get out of a can and the Texas toast was nowhere near what you expect. It was just a piece of toasted bread with no garlic and no butter. The atmosphere was Nice and the people were friendly but the food was nowhere near what you expect from a dedicated barbecue restaurant. Then after we gave him honest opinion to the waitress who said she was in shock to hear such and that she had never heard that before, which tells me that she's never read any of the reviews on here, she was very polite and offered us some homemade carrot cake sort of as a consolation, only to come back and say that they didn't have any and that somebody else is going to go next door to the ice cream place and get some and we decided okay we've been here all this time we'll wait and try this and after about 20 minutes of nobody coming to the table we just got up and left. This is my first time ever eating here but my work friend who's traveling with me said he had been there before but couldn't remember anything about it and now I understand why. Good places you never forget. I hate to ride a negative of review about a local place especially when it's not part of a chain but this place was absolutely substandard in food...

Edit to reply: there was ZERO smoke ring on any of the meat. It was not smoked. There was no one up front when we left and no one came after the food and asked how it was or if we needed anything. I'll add that the kids burgers were smaller than a slider on a full size bun, why? Worst food i have ever seen served anywhere. How do people eat this and how is this called bbq. The ribs had a nasty color no meat and all fat. The so call brisket was fatty beef stew. It was definitely cooked in liquid the fact you replied it's not is super scary no smoke ring just dull grey on all of the meat. And was still super dry. The colored greens were not edible either The basic mac and cheese was best thing on plate. The fried pickles had really thick tough breading. Left a really good tip when I self ordered at register. Our drinks were empty when they served the terrible food. No refills. Would never come here or recomend this place to anyone. Someone is paying off inspector for sure. I'd add photos but it will not let me. I wonder why????
