Used to enjoy the food. Unfortunately the new owners either weren't prepared to take over a successful Deli or they decided to cut Corners tremendously. The food is absolutely atrocious. The fried fish combo basket was barely fried. The coleslaw was warm and the wings OMG the wings I don't even know where to begin! This was my third and final try with the new owners. Everything went in the garbage. I hope I don't get sick from the little I did to eat. UPDATE. I see that the new owners are replying to reviews (good and bad. ) Their taking stanking reviewers who left positive feedback before they even owned Nixon's. They're not letting reviewers know that Nixon's is no longer owned by its original owners. I find that underhanded. If you'll notice all of Nixon's review replies were done at this point approximately two weeks ago. Any way back to my update. As you can see the new owner asked me to give them a second try. If he/she had read my review they would've known I gave it three shots after the original owners sold it. I would have preferred to reply to the owner privately, but don't know if there is a way to do so. I tried, but as far as I can tell the only way to get the owner to read my answer to his request for a second reply was to update my initial review. Our family would spend approximately $250 per month phone ordering, and then taking th5 food home for dinner. While the original owners were there breaking in the new one's the food was still on point. After the original owners left the new owners to their own devices the food began a quick and steady downward slide in quality and taste. I don't like to see anyone fail. Especially when the new owners probably mortgaged everything they owned in order to purchase Nixon's. In all honesty my hopes are that the original owners will eventually purchase Nixon's back. I don't see how Nixon's can continue as a business. I wasn't hoping that this would be the outcome of new owners taking over a food business that I enjoyed at least twice a week (sometimes three x per week.) Three chances is plenty. I have read other recent reviews and it's obvious that I'm not the only one who has tasted the difference, in quality of the food. I will not give Nixon's another try. And it's a shame. I live close by, and not only was it convenient the food, was wonderful. As I mentioned above I'm looking forward to the original owners returning. I have little doubt that Nixon's Will fail. It's an unfortunate situation, but it could have been avoided. If you read the reviews the census it's that the new owners are not doing what the original ones were. If Nixon's goes back to the original owners I hope that I am the first one to find out. I miss the wonderful food Nixon's once was famous for. Nixon's was serving excellent food to locals, and those who would travel just to enjoy the great tasting food they once served. When the original owners buy it back for pennies on the dollar I will be the first person on line. I doubt very much that the new owners will make the changes back to the way they were before they purchased Nixon's. The fact that the new owners begin running the place the way they wanted to tells me that they weren't, and mostly aren't worried about the customer. The seafood combo, and chicken cordon bleu hoagie were my absolute favorites. During my three visits after the new owners decided it was time for the original owners to leave, and begin running their business solo I couldn't believe the difference in both those foods I mentioned above. The chicken cordon bleu hoagie, and fried seafood basket were atrocious. I hate using that word, but we must call a spade a spade, and those 2 food favorites definitely came up spades on all, three of my visits, post original owners leaving. I wish the new owners nothing but luck. Although I think it's too late to win back my business. If Nixon's new owners decide to sell I implore the original ones to please purchase it back. We miss the convenience of driving 10 minutes to get what was once the best deli type...
Read moreThis store is no where near what it could/should be. They do not care about the looks of the place, the shelves are rarely stocked the exterior is falling apart, the parking lot is a mess all the time.
They continually lack the basics like milk, they run out of products I buy on a daily basis for years now due to the lack of any kind of store knowledge.
There's room for seating but no sit down breakfast beyond a sorry attempt at an roll/egg combo from a hotbox. Imagine having what is essentially a diner and not taking advantage of it? No pancakes, no egg plates, no French toast, no home fires etc.
The store was obviously purchased by mommy and daddy for a man child who can't even open on time and keep the store stocked, much less improve it.
The kid that runs the place acts like he's doing you a favor just unlocking the door in the morning. A real shame and likely a slow end to what I'm sure was and could be a local legend.
**There are quite a few reviews on this page with pictures of happy families standing in front of a quaint little country shop. The signs pretty, there are benches, flowers and a picnic area. Those are very old pictures and not what todays shop looks like. Today there's a broken ATM machine and Christmas lights hanging up mid August. The sign is filthy like the rest of the place, there's a layer of grease and fingerprints on everything.
EDIT - September 2025
New owners, the last one couldn't hack it even with daddy's help! Store seems cleaner already, only...
Read moreDon't sleep on this place if you want good eats. The people are super nice and helpful. The food is ridiculously good, better then it has any right to be. I had one of their fat sandwiches and it was perfect. What was perfect? Literally the whole thing. The sandwich was so cheap I bought the full size. I could've easily been full off a half, but it was so good I ate the whole thing. The bread was soft enough to absorb the sauces, but still stiff enough to support it so you can actually eat it. The meat was seasoned perfectly and portioned with the correct ratio of cheese. Topping it with mozzarella sticks, french fries, and pairing it with some marinara sauce. The sandwich is packed dense and doesn't fall apart as you eat it. I've had similar sandwiches from other places but this is way better. Most of the other ones have bread that can't properly support the filling, or fillings that have ratios of their ingredients that make it hard to eat it as a sandwich, or are drenched in sauce making impossible to eat cleanly. But, this is different. The ingredients all come together into the perfect sandwich. I...
