My Philly — Restaurant in Tacoma

Fantastic, authentic Philly cheesesteaks! Wit or witout!

Staff is casual and friendly. There's signs on the walls advertising that they're on Facebook ("My Philly") and Instagram ("My Philly Tacoma").

Restaurant is situated at the end of a strip mall shopping center. We had no problem with parking, but Google did say we were there when business was slower than usual. The property is clean inside and out.

The seating area very much reminds me of small sandwich shops of the East Coast.

All of the food was made-to-order, but service was very quick. If you want the style we (Delaware native, Philly native, and Philly area native) are more familiar with, I'd suggest the Pepper Cheesesteak hold the jalapeños. That way, you get the meat, cheese, onions, and bell peppers.

The full sandwiches are probably the size of a footlong. The text menu (not the pics) shown in this listing are for half sandwiches.

Meat was delicious thinly chopped ribeye. White American cheese was creamy but not overbearing. There was a great meat-to-bun ratio, and you're definitely not just filling up on bread. Onions were finely chopped and authentic per the Pennsylvanians at our table (as much as I want to like onions, I can't do it). And for the two who had the mushroom cheesesteaks, they said they were amazing (expect them to be juicier, from our experience). And they labeled all our food.

We tried this yesterday for dinner, right before closing, and they did not disappoint! The food was exceptional! Fresh, Hot, and Good! New experience 12/30/22: I recommended this establishment to many people and now I regret it. My family called in three cheesesteaks. We were told the wait time was 15 minutes. We came 30 minutes later, and still had to wait 15 more minutes. The problem... The chicken cheesesteak had bones in it... Have you ever had a cheesesteak with bones in it? Well, we never had. Then when we called about this issue, we were told that it was authentic and we are not getting our money back, unless we come right now. We were in Black Diamond and not coming back until the next day. She argued us down, cussed at us, and had no desire to rectify the situation. I have never seen this level of customer service or lack thereof in my life. We are arguing with a kid that keeps telling us she is the owner. If the owner is okay with cussing out their customers and providing a ghetto experience, then I recommend you eat...

In this day and age, Philly cheese steak is a wave. Most try to ride and make a buck. My lady and I have sampled every place we can find in the northwest over the past 15 years. From Spokane to Port Angeles, from Portland to Everett, everyone has their own style. It amazes me that in the smallest places you find the best food. Right on the main drag in a tiny spot in Tacoma, in an area where 35 years ago the corner stores were called 'stop and rob' now finds a great meal. My daughter and I went there to get a Philly for her mother's birthday. As I am over a decade removed from the area, I was apprehensive. Everyone was welcoming and polite. The shop was a perfect little diner where you could chat a little with your visitors and have an almost home feel with the six tables. We got our order to go, and the one thing missing from the entire experience was more! I thank you very greatly for a good dinner and hope you are blessed with a chain...
