I’m a Tahoe local and have been coming to this place since I was little - haven’t been back in awhile, and I have to say, so disappointed.

Pros:

  1. Nice atmosphere, love the bear pictures
  2. Long time restaurant

Cons:

  1. Lipstick on the water glass when we were sat at the table. The hostess said sometimes it’s hard to get it all off??
  2. For the quality of the food - way over priced. At $13+ the Eggs Benedict was bland and boring.
  3. We ordered French toast (pretty good) and Eggs Benedict. When I asked for a plate so we could share the dishes the waitress said we weren’t allowed to “split” dishes??? That is the cheapest load of bull I have ever heard in my life, especially since we ordered two entrees!! We are sitting down and bringing your restaurant money - that should never be a rule. No other restaurant we’ve been to has given us a hard time about that - even if we ordered one entree.
  4. Service was mediocre at best - empty plates sat in front of us for a good while as the waitress and bus girl came by several times looking directly at us with no courtesy.
  5. This isn’t a big deal as it could be missed by any worker, but a piece of toast with jelly on it was sitting on the bathroom floor in front of the toilet - like what?

Seems to me that they are not a “locals” restaurant anymore as they use to be. Giving a customer a hard time about splitting a dish when you’re spending $45+ on breakfast is an insult and just cheap.

I’d rather go the extra few miles over to Fire Sign Cafe near Homewood or even drive 45min down the hill to the Wet Hen Cafe in Reno and bring our money there where the food is beyond excellent, the prices are fair for what you get, service is always on point. And above all - you are never hassled about splitting dishes and you sure as heck won’t find lipstick on your “clean”...

This place is ok. The food is ok, service was not so good. They have a build your own section on the menu and I asked the (dark haired) waitress if it would be cheaper to order that way and she seemed to have no clue. I ordered what I wanted & for the heck of it, then I checked out the final total & compared the differences. Turned out that I paid about $.85 more due to the way I ordered it. Oh well! She rarely refilled my coffee cup, I had to get the bus boy to do it. She wasn’t very attentive even though I was sitting at the counter and she walked by me three times. When I was finished eating she never even looked at my plate which I had pushed away from me, or noticed that I was waiting. The 3rd time she walked by me a dish washer who was standing by noticed my expression and asked if I needed something so I asked him for a to go box. I ended up taking the .85 out of her tip cuz she literally forgot about me after she served my food. I’m not impressed with this place and I’ll be looking for another place for breakfast next time I’m...

Went at Friday at 9am. Writing this minutes after my 1st experience.

Parking lot partially empty. Several Sherrif Dept vehicles dining. Walked up to their ToGo Window to order two simple breakfast burritos.

1st Server asked if I was ordering ToGo. I confirmed. 2nd Server, who I presume was the Manager, stated we aren't serving ToGo due to staffing shortages. So you we're and then you weren't?

If that is the case why is the ToGo window open? Why is there not a sign or breadboard saying Dine-In only? Why not set a customer experience vs telling me they don't want my business?

Honestly when the parking lot is partially full and it's mid morning ToGo is the easiest, lowest people resource need, and fastest turn. It's almost server free. Seems the easiest way.to make a quick buck!

What I took this to be is "we want locals not tourists". It was offensive whether they intended or not. If they don't want New Customers good luck.

I won't willingly go back any time soon. No idea how the food taste as they didn't want...

Had lunch here this past Sunday. We ordered online through their website and picked up our food at the window. My only negative comment is half of the parking lot is really just a bunch of sharp rocks so if you dont have an off-roading vehicle, be careful! That aside, the person handing out pick up orders was very kind, the food was delicious, and even though it's only open for a few hours a day, you can tell its popular because the line for ordering was plenty long. They have outdoor seating if you're comfortable with how few people wear masks when not eating. We opted to eat in our car. I had ordered the BBQ Western Burger with added grilled onions. Did they need to charge an extra $1.99 for those if they're going to substitute the onions already there? Absolutely not. But the burger was very good. I ordered my son the kids cheeseburger. Both dishes came with fries that were amazing. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!

Finding a good breakfast place in North Tahoe was a bit of a challenge, but we came across this spot and decided to give it a try. There was a long wait — around 30 to 40 minutes — but it was absolutely worth it. The atmosphere was cozy and full of character. The restaurant is set in an old post office, so there are fun postal touches throughout — vintage weight scales and large stamp prints on the walls add a unique charm to the space. The food was delicious and plentiful, definitely great value for the money. I ordered egg whites and later found out there was a $2.50 surcharge that the server didn’t mention. The staff seemed a bit stressed and straightforward, but given how busy it was, that made sense. The crab cake Benedict was excellent, and the French toast was also very good. The only downside is that there’s just one restroom for everyone, so there was often a line. Still, overall a wonderful breakfast experience — highly recommended!
