Overall, I love the innovation that Deep has brought to the beer scene in Tallahassee, but I am disappointed that their popularity has started going to their head.
Honestly, Deep serves some of the best stouts and coffee ales that I have ever had, which balances Lake Tribes signature IPAs and Proofs lagers in town. The stouts may only be around for a limited time (it is Florida after all and who wants to drink super dark beers when you’re melting in July), but they do them right. The Chamber Goat collaboration with local Lucky Goat coffee is both a fantastic beer and great way for local businesses to partner. The seating is starting to expand as well, now offering picnic tables outside and more tables in the brewing room.
Yet, Deep is clearly starting to take advantage of their location and popularity. Although their tier system once had a variety of $5 core beers to choose from, with a couple $6-$8 beers rotating in, they have now moved to only 3 kinds of $5 core beers and the majority of new beers being “seasonal” $6-$8 beers. So when you decide to try anything new here, you’re stuck paying $6-$8 for a 12oz pour, making Deep the consistently most expensive brewery in town. I understand that Deep is located in Killearn, the rich, suburban area of town where there is more money to throw around, but this pricing situation is ruining my image of Deep and keeping me from visiting as often as I did. I already have to go out of my way to visit, since the brewery is located in a warehouse away from any other businesses in the Northeast corner of town, and this pricing increase is now more of a reason pushing me to visit other breweries instead. I love the beer that Deep is putting out, but they have made my enjoyment of it now only a once in a...
Read moreOctopus was delicious but just and arm! Come on, fine dining in a brewing bar. Okay. Their new place is pretty big and cool. The chairs have some design problem. 7 different people’s chairs fell to the ground within 10 minutes. Spoons and forks’ design is also problematic. Everybody’s spoon and fork in our table fell to inside of the plate or the table by sliding. Also, I ask for water and one of the waitresses told me there is a fountain and you need to get it every time!!! I was sitting with my 6-month old baby and having a dinner, she told me go get it by yourself!!!! I asked the another server and she brought me a glass of water! It was not that hard, thanks her. So, good place, very crowded, load music, great outdoor sitting areas, bad service, wrong industrial designs but it is okay. Oh! I forgot to say! They do not have table number. Maybe 10 times, The waiters kept bringing us other tables' food. Hope this reviews helps the company to...
Read moreVisited DEEP Brewing Company for first time today. Have seen quite a few race about the cuban and even saw they bring in authentic cuban bread from Tampa. So, I obviously had to order the cuban "tampa" style. While I will say that it was a great sandwich...a "half" cuban for $18 is absolutely ridiculous. I repeat...a "half" a sandwich?!. I can get a whole cuban in South Beach for half that. Having lived in Tampa for 30 yrs and had more Cubans than I can count...that is insane you charge that much. Total bummer to what would have been a...
