I would liken this B&B to a 3-star hotel. The inn is located in a quiet, residential area a couple of miles from downtown. I stayed in the Birdhouse Suite, which was the last room in its building. All rooms are in the ground floor. The buildings are old adobe with uneven floors and doors. The room, retrofitted with a heating unit, suffered from drafts. The bathroom has no heat. The room was comfortable but lacked modern amenities like sufficient outlets. There was no place near the bed to plug in my phone and without a clock in the room, I had to cross the room to determine the hour. My biggest complaint was the lack of a functional shower head. Speakman shower heads are awesome but this one was so clogged up with calcium deposits (a known NM hazard) that I couldn't get a reasonable flow of water, which combined with the cold bathroom, made for an unpleasant and frustrating experience. Also, the sink drain had no cover, so if you drop anything you'll never see it again. Finally, while breakfast was good, it did take 30 minutes to be served pancakes from the time I arrived and only 2 other tables were occupied. The morning cook and host is very chatty, which would be fine if people weren't waiting for her to cook and serve. She served one couple and then chatted for 10 minutes while myself and another table waited. She then cooked the other table's food and of course started chatting after serving them. My pancakes took 30 minutes when I really wanted to be on my way to the slopes.

I absolutely love this place . The only thing missing after each day on the mountain , is a soaking tub, but other than that, you can’t ask for anything more beautiful when it comes to pet friendly , and well... just friendly! The owners, are the nicest.. especially Bob, who is the mostly friendly man. He makes you feel like you are a friend staying at his house. From what I could see , it looks like each room as a little backyard type area and it’s so great when you have a dog! Every morning coffee is put out and breakfast delivered every morning (I imagine because of Covid ), and breakfast is absolutely delicious !! It doesn’t seem important, but there were lots of hooks in our room... which is spot on when you needs to hang lots of wet cold snowboarding stuff. There’s definitely a cute little vibe going on here, and we loved it. On our next trip to Taos, we will definitely be back.

Helloooooo Travelers heading to Taos.

You know what really sucks? When one finds a B&B that starts off sooo promising but turns out to be very disappointing. Welcome to The Old Taos Guesthouse.

Me and Smalls were there on July 6th, 2019

My review would be different IF: One of the main features of my room; the fireplace, worked as introduced. The staff were more accommodating and friendly AFTER check in. The room was cleaner The room didn't smell The pillows didn't smell like sweat Someone else's hair wasn't on the bathroom floor

When one checks in you're like, "damn this place is really sweet" but then..

Here's the skinny: The place is lovely, very serene.

Red phone availability to access the innkeeper, which is useless

No TVs in the rooms. Niiice.

No A/C. What's offered is a giant fan that sounds like a helicopter.

Rochelle, the hostess, is not service oriented after hours. After one checks in, the hospitality drops right off the cliff. What's the point of having a "red phone" to contact the innkeeper at anytime with any issues, if they don't answer? When I contacted our innkeeper because the fireplace in our room didn't work, she told me to turn on the wall heater instead... and flat out refused to help start the fireplace. She was actually pretty rude & hung up on me.

And wow!! More attitude!! Even the day after!

Communal refrigerator.. yuck. And that thang ain't been cleaned in awhile.

Pre-filled buckets of ice, 8 cubes per bucket in a communal freezer, packed by who knows? Again.. yuck.

Nice thick coating of dust on the dresser in the room.

Honey... whose hair is that all over the bathroom floor? Ewewewewewew

-The Breakfast room has an odor reminiscent of.. well.. vomit and Pine Sol..

Actually, as I'm sitting here writing this review, I notice that my room has that odor as well...

Breakfast was delicious

The bed was comfortable

The pillows were uncomfortable and smelled like sweat... Mmmmmmmm

I love natural lighting.. unless that skylight is directly over my bed. Damn that's bright in the morning. No sleeping in late here. Especially if you want breakfast.. which is served between 8:00 and 9:30.

I guess if you were one of those "Hey maaan.. I'm trying to recapture my Hippie Days.. down with the establishment" people who permeate this region, you will find it a nice alternative to your VW Microbus. Groovy man...

If you want to stay at a B&B where you don't have to try so hard, there are plenty more in Taos to choose from.

$180 dollars for ONE NIGHT?? SERIOUSLY?

Stayed one night, will...

Hi! This is Dee Spencer . I was one of five guests, as our friends were Rawjer, Ted Bradshaw, Melinda, and Steve, my husband. ( oh, and Fawkes , the dog ). I want to express how wonderful our stay was here! The hosts were great, and the breakfast chef , Mary ( Marie?) was extraordinary in her cooking skills and presentation for our morning breakfasts. She goes above and beyond the usual fare. If you have any food sensitivities or allergy, they will take your requests seriously. The grounds outside are lovely, with grass, a small creek running by in the front, blooming trees, and dog-friendly for those who need it. Backyard views over the plains and mountains, looking west, are superb. My husband, Steve, and I have stayed here in the past, years ago , when the owners were Tim and Leslie, and that was a wonderful experience, as well. Great folks! After three pandemic years, or not getting back to Taos during that time, it was renewing and refreshing once again, to be here. I would recommend this guesthouse , and place to rest and sleep, and eat and dream, to anyone! It maintains it's charm, history, old Taos feel, comfort, and care all through the years. Congratulations, "new" or present owners, and...
