We travel through Tatum often and have enjoyed the Burger Barn food for years. The cheeseburgers are always a treat and something we look forward to. I had a total knee replacement 2 weeks ago in Lubbock. I had been terribly naive about the pain and other physical difficulties that accompany this procedure. One comforting part of the plan to transport me back home had to do with the fact that we would be able to stop midway in Tatum, have a good Burger that enabled me to take my meds, and a lovely, clean bathroom where my husband could physically assist me. The lady who waited on us when we came through the first time was gracious and accommodating. Lovely experience. However the second trip for post op was a different story. I had not known about the acute leg tremors and spasms that occur in one’s legs from severed nerves when you get the least bit chilled. We walked in, again appreciating the smell of good food, placed our order and then tried to take a seat. Because it had recently rained, the ac was keeping the room very cool. I’m certain it wasn’t too much for most under normal circumstances. However the chill in the air began to spark the nerves and muscles in my legs. I kept walking around with my walker trying to calm my legs and find a place that wasn’t under an ac duct. We were the only ones in the restaurant. This apparently made the young waitress nervous. When my husband reached up and shut off an air duct the waitress came undone demanding he switch it back which he did. I began to try explain. She was so unreasonable she would not hear any explanation, accusing us of being rude and eventually asking us to leave. We got our food and ate in the car. Will we go back? It’s a great stop for us and the best burger anywhere around so yes. However if we walk in and see that young waitress I...
Read moreThe year was 2020 and it was the Great American Road Trip. My family and I had been stuck in our Subaru Outback, AKA the Dad Mobile, for WEEEEEEEKS. "Hey look! Burgers!" I said. "Sure. Whatever. Let's do it," my wife mumbled unenthusiastically. Can't blame her either as we had been eating nothing but fast food for a while. We ordered our food, cheeseburgers and fries with a coke and pulled into the shade of a tree near a church and ate in shock. After being on the road for weeks, eating all sorts of garbage, finally...some real food. The burgers really shouldn't have been a big deal. Nothing unusual. Just a big old serving of classic Americana. Seriously, how good could a burger get? Mind blowingly good. That's how good.
It was soo good, we are planning on driving from our home town of Round Rock TX all the way to Tatum NM to visit Tiny's Burger Barn JUST to get another round of cheeseburgers soon. This place is totally humble and, no joke, the best cheeseburger I've ever had. If your just passing through, don't miss an opportunity to stop here and try it for yourself.
Seriously, it's been over a year and I'm still thinking about this place and passionate enough to go out of my way and write this review. That...
